Rankin Released...Official..

Taupau wasn't exactly let go, he already signed for big bucks at Manly and Manly enquired if they could have him a year early. Tigers were not able to match the Manly offer and were under salary cap pressure, so let him go the year early, like they did w Blake Austin.

But people talking about Siro Jr being a bad loss, please! Good defender? Strong runner? Yes for about 10 minutes every game. The guy's output was poor and we'd been waiting 5 seasons for him to play consistently strong football. Not saying he didn't have potential but at some point you have to make the call and invest elsewhere.

Exactly - salary cap pressure as usual at the time with Taupau - plus he wasn't worth the money he was asking the way he was playing. People on here think we had unlimited dollars like the Rorters, Manly, Dogs etc.

As for Siro - I had great hopes for this guy - I am very disappointed in the way he has turned out (including the 5% improvement he has shown this year). He could have been anything - unfortunately he could live to 200 and he will never reach the potential he had, sad really, he is just a bludger.

**And that's really the point, we could have re-signed him and kept waiting for him to casually realise his potential while he was comfortable here with his mates. He gets paid to play with another team and suddenly its performance time. Its no surprise that players perform better after they are removed from their comfort zone.**

Still missing Taupau and will miss Tedesco and missing Austin and even Farah.
If Cleary were here reckon he would have tried harder to keep them except Teddy.

I wouldn't say that. He let Austin go from Penrith to come to us.

Back to Rankin..good luck mate ..expect the official announcement today or tomorrow..

I'll admit ive bagged the heck out of Rankin during his time at the club but I wish him all the best. I hope he finds his feet in the ESL.

He's still crap though.

Amazing only 25 years old. Was never good enough in one position to be a regular first grader. hopefully does well again in ESL second time around. All the best.

Well he has been almost whipped to death over the past few seasons.

Now that he is going immediately - might as well whip him to death eh!

At least he showed more commitment than many, even playing out of position nearly every week.

Thanks Jordan for all your effort - best of luck back in the Old Dart - hope it goes well.

:sign: waahoo, yes there is a god … thank you !!

Shame we can't immediately release users from this forum.

As with KN ….Rankin always put in and had a go but not at the level required this can be said of Lovett as well, these guys respect the jersey but are not at the elite level . There are other hacks that recently have worn the jersey that deserve a lot more ridicule than these players!

Copped way too much undeserved crap. It wasn't his fault our cap was a mess and he was given an opportunity to make a name for himself. Didn't work out, that's footy. We're now entering an era where we won't have to resort to the Rankin's being our big signings. Good luck to him.

Rankins gone immediately it appears

Good riddance

I know you corrected yourself later on, but I still feel the need to respond to this. I would say this reaction should be reserved for players like Woods, Tedesco or Moses. Or players that bring the game into disrepute. Not for a guy who got an opportunity due to the incompetence of the club and gave it his all.
