Not sure what you're on about, I was just stating that Barrett has done a great job with manly and particularly Sironen, and now that you mentioned it, he's turned Taupau from a 20 minute player into a much longer and better player, I've seen him do 80 minutes of good football this year. Just saying that Barrett has got manly to a level that no one thought would have been possible from last year.

Gotcha, every other club and coach = good and we = bad. More of your usual.

Sirro was a classic case of needing a change of scenery. He was on decent coin here, and not performing anywhere near that value, even after he got dropped.

Would have loved to have kept Taupau, but he was a casualty of the cap issues leading into 2016 and 2017\. Plus we got ET with that cap space, so it wasn't all bad.

Would have loved to have kept Taupau. Love his game but it is what it is.

I thought we should have kept Sirro and Taupau. We let these guys go in the hope that we'd keep the big 4 and they would lead us to become a top team. Taupau was already clearly a gun and Sirro's defence was great.

Hopefully we've learnt from those poor decisions.

Disagree.

Taupau wanted too much money.

Siro was a bludger and not good enough for US. Maybe different for other teams but he would never have made the grade playing for us.

Exactly. Those 'poor decisions' have to be seen in context. At the time, they we're the right decisions.

Being a big Half/ 5/8 is a risky business in the modern game
you get shafted to 2nd row if you dont perform like an agile halves player

Curtis Sironen ?

Who had a great game last night for Manly

Pity he never had one for us.

True, but this is now, Barrett's getting somrething out of him that we couldn't .

Yes that's because Barrett is playing him a a wide ball playing secondrower.
He was never going to be a player who got down and dirty in the middle.

Wish him best of luck, though I wonder what position he will play.

I still think he should be in our side this weekend over JLJ

Correct. Tigers couldn't match the money Manly were offering and Taylor let him go early to try and ease pressure on the Tigers salary cap. Sirro never put in the hard yards at the Tigers. Got the wake up call he needed at Manly.

Last time Siro played half, we got smashed 60-6.

On Ranko though, I think a lot of people fell offside with him when he was getting picked out of position ahead of JAC. To be fair though that wasn't his fault at all, that was all JT.

And what a baffling decision it was.

I know it's Saturday night, but it might be time to ease off whatever you're on,
I'd explain my post in smaller words so it would be easier for you to understand, but I can't be bothered. I didnt mention us , I just commented on the job that Barrett has dome with Manly since last year and on those players specifically :crazy

Appreciate his effort, but he's out of his depth in the NRL. Best of the luck in the ESL

Not sure about your opinion of NRL being superior to ESL. Dont forget Warrington and Wigan beat NRL sides easily enough in the World club challenge, and both those clubs are struggling well down the League ladder at the moment, so they are nowhere near the best sides this season. You are listening to the Aussie comentators too much, who seem to have a poor opinion of ESL. I watch all the NRL games on TV and there is not a great deal between both leagues, with the Aussies just shading it at the top. But not much in it at all. At one time the Aussies used to come to England for retirement, but these days they come here and then go back to Australia and play again, so they must be coming back better players.

- Sporting News

With two new signings about to join the Tigers backline, the club needs to clean out the closet and Jordan Rankin is tipped to be the man they throw away.

Former NRL wingers Corey Thompson and Mahe Fonua will return to Australia next season and Rankin will hop on a flight himself to England to link up with Super League side Huddersfield Giants, according to The Courier Mail's Travis Meyn.

Rankin previously had a stint in the offshore competition with Hull F.C, the club that Fonua is set to leave, before making an NRL comeback with the Tigers in 2016.

Ivan Cleary has filled up his bus since news Mitchell Moses, James Tedesco and Aaron Woods will be leaving Concord, with eight new recruits penning a deal since his appointement as head coach.

Fonua playing well for Hull, Thompson not doing much at Widnes. A lot better players about.

One thing he can't be criticised for is his commitment, giving his best every time he's pulled on the jumper, no matter what position he's asked to play; wing, fullback, 5/8 and hooker. I wish him all the best back in Superleague.

X2

Yeah, tried hard but the reality is he is not NRL standard… had a decent 2016 on the wing... but was never a winger... he'll do well over there where the standard is definately lower

Remind me how the World cup challenge ended up.You are listening to the Aussie comentators too much.

Marty always had a big gas tank. He was being misused here. Making him an edge back rower was a mistake when he is a middle forward through and through. Barrett is just using him correctly.

Totally agree.

Thanks for trying, but in all honesty was given 30 more games than he should of gotten. His selection is somewhat a reason, we lost JAC.

Marty was great here. He was very effective on the left edge, as he is in the middle. Club needed to figure out a way to keep him. He was close to the best player in the previous season prior to leaving.

Regardless of people's thoughts on Sironen, given our back row shortage, the decision to let Sironen go for 2017 was a shocker. End of 2017 that's fine, use his money and get someone else. But Sironen was really the only strong edge runner we had. This is part the reason our backline sweeps are so terrible is cause we don't have an attractive runner going short.
