Rankin try saving tackle

I would like to say congrats to Rankin for his great try saver.

I loved the heart he but into it.

The whole team played with so much heart.

I agree, He had a real go today. He cops a lot of grief on here about his play but playing wing and hooker today allowed some flexibility with the interchanges which meant a lot for our forwards.

I was impressed with him at backup hooker - ran at the right time - a monster kick from dummy half that pinned the cows in their own 10 mtrs. He is not fast enough for a winger but from dummy half he regularly made 10 mtrs.

It was a great tackle, no doubt. He looked solid out of dummy half and I think his carries off the wing were helped immensely by the Cowboys only watching footage of Nofo under the high ball (rightly so, he's rocks and diamonds and they've got the jumpers to beat him). Fact is Nofo's carries put us on the front foot all night, throw in Tim Sim who always makes the ad line and Rankin was able to get out and use his little shimmy on retreating forwards to make yards - remember how damaging Lawrence and Sue looked at the start of the year running on the third or fourth tackles?

He provides great utility value and always gives his all, definitely an important part of the new culture we're trying to build. I'll leave the nitpicking and team selections for another time, Jordy was great today.

I don't think the problem is Rankin going to dummy half but Lovett going into the centres & not using Robbie which avoids the whole situation. Plus JAC is still a better winger.

Rankin though was great and he can play a lot of positions.

It was his best game for the Tigers considering the opposition, and JT finally got it right by NOT playing Lovett at centre while the backline shifted when DH came off

He was much improved at DH, and very good in general.
That tackle was emblematic of the improved attitude we've displayed over the last couple of months - the scrambling defence has been tremendous. Was a bad miss by Simona initially, but Rankin didn't give up on the play for a second and potentially saved the game for us.
