Just like hip drop tackles are not penalised any more, even if someone is injured.
Its like an 8 point try...foul after scoring
We got one last recently ...maybe last year at LO...missed the field goal but got the penalty

I’m guessing for 8 point tries and three point field goals it’s effectively dead time? So if you somehow miss and it stays in play the play ends?

Okay so it’s section 13 part 10. Basically if you miss the penalty the ball is dead.
(b) If the attempt at drop goal is successful, a kick at goal must
be taken from the penalty kick and play re-started from the
centre of the halfway line irrespective of the outcome of

It’s a dead ball as soon as the kick is unsuccessful. The referee was correct in his decision.
I was just thinking how my son will be confused when he sees the result in the morning, won’t even think it was a golden point match. Should be an impossible margin
This makes sense for a field goal in normal time and a foul is committed, but the last part makes no sense for golden point and doesn’t apply (i.e play restarted from halfway)
