REALISTIC SIGNINGS

I don't know about brown. He certainly charges into the defensive line but does he make much ground after contact? Haven't seen him dominate in defence either unless it's putting a cheap shot on a kicker.

One things for certain, he loses his cool a lot & gives away plenty of penalties.

I'd take either of the Jennings boys. Surprising they haven't played more really.

I also think we should have a good crack at signing Nathan Brown. He'd be a great player off the bench for us, providing a lot of that mongrel and aggression that our pack so often lacks. He's improved a lot at Souths but he's also still best mates with half our squad. Don't think he'd be that expensive but i also wouldn't expect him to be playing every game. You have to accept the odd suspension with a player like him.

Me too, they have been resigned to losing them all year, so have not played them. I heard at one point they didnt play Robert earlier hoping it might keep his asking price down to a level they might sneak in, but that didnt work.

**Yes he still has a cheap shot in him as he loses control of his aggression. Our current forwards are good enough at conceding stupid penalties for crazy little things usually from being dominated. His come from dominating other people too much.**

He's far from a perfect player but would be a weapon off the bench for us, and give us something different to what we currently have. I've seen maybe 4-5 Souths games this season and he's been their best forward in each of those games. They haven't been great this season, but he's still outplaying some far bigger names.

Wouldn't it be nice to re-claim one of our juniors from another club who still wants him, rather than always losing them? He left for an opportunity. He got it, and has taken it with both hands. Let him return to his home club and help us in the future.

A big no on Brown for me.

Goes hard no doubt. He also crosses the line with cheap stuff, I hate that.

But you cant give away 3 penalties a game and make 3 mistakes a game, results in having no ball, he cant not do those things.

Players who do that hurt their team so much, that the big hits and runs are more than negated.

Agree 100% it is all about discipline these days. The Storm are team that people often say are the team you try to copy, and their game is based all on discipline. You can afford to be giving away any cheap penalties to any team these days

Who would you replace in our top 17 - Woods, Sue, Grant or Seumanufagai ?? Genuine question because id take all 4 above Brown and he wouldn't come back to play reserve grade

We'll have to agree to disagree on this one - beauty of a forum I guess.

In terms of metres after contact I've seen more from Ava & Sue, even Aloiai. If anything Brown may be ahead of Lovett, but even Lovett has improved a lot lately. And I certainly would put Brown at lock ahead of Taylor.

It'd definitely be great to have some more mongrel in the pack, I just don't think Brown is the right option. Would prefer someone like Frizell, Jackson, Gillett, etc. But then this is the "realistic signings" thread!

Thing is his record actually isn't _that_ bad.

Yes equal third in penalties conceded for Souths, and would be level with Grant for 3rd with us too. But again he plays much more aggressive than any of our boys yet concedes just as many penalties.

His stats across the board are quite simliar to Tim Grant actually. And if you look at penalties conceded compared to minutes played he's much less of an offender than a number of our boys.

But yes he is dirty and pushes the boundaries. But Melbourne have built a team around players like that. Opponents may not enjoy playing against him but who cares. He just needs to tone down the obviously stupid stuff.

And i'd have him ahead of Sue and Aloiai, and on about the same as Grant. Grant is more professional in training though so that's a big tick for him.

I'm pretty sure if you compared the sheer stupidity of his penalties to anyone else in the Tigers or Bunnies teams (save maybe Paul Carter) then he would be miles in front. There is a big difference between conceding a penalty in the ruck early in the tackle count close to the line and giving away a dumb penalty and 30 metres field position because you think it's a good idea to slap someone in the head right in front of the ref. I've watched him enough this season to know that most of his penalties have been of the abjectly stupid type.

Couple of Cowboys some had mentioned off the merkat Ethan Lowe and Justin O'Neill

Ethan Lowe is a goal kicker

Just sayin

Pretty sure that he just re-signed with the cowboys, heard someone lamenting the endless cash at the cowboys all of a sudden.

Actually I was told it was being announced today (if not already)

There's an article linking us to Korbin Sims. Though we're one of 4 or 5 teams linked.

I really don't know what we can afford for next yr. One minute Pascoe is indicating they'd be open to signing Hayne. When asked he said the club is always looking to sign quality players (In other words he didn't say no). Then ET comes out and says he's unsure if the club can afford him for next yr. Unless ET is trying to up his price tag in the media?

No thanks on K Sims, crap discipline. He can go to the Saints with his brother.

If we can get his discipline right he could be just what we have missed - an enforcer. Rowdy and ET are steady, work achololic 80 minutes players and Aioli is still developing.

Would be great to have coming off the bench and strike some fear into the opposition.

The only signing the club has to prioritise is a Kicker..I do not care what position he plays …....No Kicker =No Finals!
