Realistic team list round 1 2018

wat are peoples RD 1 teams??

I'll wait until after the next trial to put mine up.
I'd like to include Gamble and JJF but I don't think they'll make my R1 team (unless a more experienced player is injured).

I am concerned about the thought that Lolohea won't play 1st grade in round 1 & Reynolds will spend time at hooker.

2 recruits signed long term on big money not being played in their primary positions. Why'd we sign them? What will the club do with them for the next 2 years +

Trial form is notoriously unreliable both for players and teams.I would be surprised if the starting team this week is the same for round 1.

Thoughts for our forward pack and bench

Packer 119kg
Mclwrick 97kg
Matalino 107kg
McQueen 106kg
Aloiai 106kg
Taylor 101kg

Twal 104kg _ Rochow 103kg
Eisenhuth 110kg _ JJ F 105kg
Grant 110kg _ Sue 105kg
Gamble 97kg _ Tui 94kg
A mixture of experience youth and plenty of size
Gamble can slot into the halves as back up or even in the centre's
Assuming Thompson at fullback

People still don't have Felise in their sides? He was our best forward in the trial, which at least gives him a bench spot in my side.

No doubting he was very good against the Cows which was great to see, the kid has talent and we never saw it last year. With the depth we have in the front row, it will be tough for him, but I think a lot will come down to Matulino and whether he is right for round 1 with his knee.

Let's see how he goes against the Sharks this weekend and whether the likes of Sue, Matulino and Packer all get a run.

The other thing worth mentioning is that sometimes, actually a lot of times a coach favours players in a trial he has in mind for back up roles.

he already knows what Matulino, packer, Twal, Grant and Sue can do.

Felise is project player and thats why he is getting large minutes in a TRIAL

What i'd like:

11\. McQueen
12\. Rochow
13\. ET

14\. Eisenhuth
15\. Twal
16\. Sue
17\. Aloiai

Realistic:

11\. McQueen
12\. Lawrence
13\. ET

14\. Twal
15\. Eisenhuth
16\. Aloiai
17\. Grant

I'd prefer JJ to Sue any day.

Out looking at retirement villages

Would love to see Twal or JJ Felise start at prop with Packer with Matalino starting from the bench.

love we have size in the pack this year.

Hoping Aloiai and Twal kick on this year

I can see McQueen starting the year on the bench with a back row of 11\. Lawrence 12\. ET 13\. Hooth.

I think this will most likely be the case

How close is the team selected, for Saturday, expected to be for Round 1? Surely we can’t stick with the back line from last year. You have to get Milne or Fonua, or both, and a good goal kicker in somehow.

Stupid to select a team without a goalkicker. From the trials Marsters & Milne are terrible, Gamble will not play round 1, Lolohea has to be there
