Ok, that's all we'll get to see so based on everything I think we will get:

1\. Thompson
2\. Nofo
3\. Marsters
4\. Kev
5 MWZ
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Packer
9\. McIllwrick
10\. Matulino
11\. Taylor
12\. Lawrence
13\. Eisenhuth

14\. Benji
15\. Twal
16\. Aloiai
17\. Rochow/grant/sue

not what I would necessarily want, but close to what I think we will get.

That will be the team, not mine, but thats what Cleary will pick

How do you pick Benji without a trial game under his belt …....please

He is a confidence player ....anyway .....move on

Neither have Elijah Taylor Alex Twal or Sauaso Sue ..but people are picking two out of three of them..

Yes my team was What I think would be realistic

I would prefer

Tui
Nofo
Marsters
Milne
Thomson
Reynolds
Brooks
Packer
Godinet
Mats
Aloiai
Lawrence
Eisenhuth

Twal
Benji
A second rower who can also play in the middle (probably Rochow)
Grant

I'd be tempted to start ET at 9, Rochow in the second row and Godinet on the bench but would feel sick if the bench had a hooker and a five eight.

Hooker really is our biggest issue, none of ET, Reynolds or Benji are 9's but someone will have to play there. I would be tempted to suss out segeyaro as he is the best bench hooker running around and offer him the 9 on good coin and a switch ASAP. If Liddle doesn't stay fit, or doesn't kick on then a good hooker will be top of the buy list.

Sorry Geo when did Benji last play for the WT's or play under Cleary ??

Slight difference

Have never understood the Benji signing. Surely he’s just there as a coach and old head to teach Brooks something. Lolo needs to be a half, not a FB. Godinet looks great. Who is going to be our goal kicker? I think we have to get Fonua in for defense. I wish Milne was a better tackler. The depth in the forwards look good, picking 9 won’t be easy.

1\. Thompson
2\. Nofo
3\. Marsters
4\. Milne
5 MWZ
6\. Lolohea
7\. Gamble
8\. Packer
9\. Taylor
10\. Matulino
11\. Aloiai
12\. Rochow
13\. Eisenhuth

14\. Twal
15\. Felise
16\. Mikaele
17\. Reynolds

Will never happen but…...

I'd prefer to wait until we see everyone get a run, but I get the feeling the following will be there:

1\. Lolohea
2\. [MWZ or Thompson]
3\. Naiqama
4\. Marsters
5\. Nofoaluma
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. [either Packer, Twal or Matulino]
9\. [id suggest ET will start here]
10\. [either Packer, Twal or Matulino]
11\. Lawrence
12\. Aloiai
13\. Eisenhurth

After Trial 2, I feel we will see:

1\. Lolohea
2\. Thompson
3\. Naiqama
4\. Martsers
5\. Nofoaluma
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Packer
9\. Taylor
10\. Twal
11\. Lawrence
12\. Aloiai
13\. Eisenhurth

14\. McIlwrick
15\. Matulino
16\. Grant
17\. Sue/Felise/???

I feel Lolo needs to be there for more creativity, but if Cleary opts for Thompson at Fullback [MWZ will take his Wing Spot], Benji will need to come onto that bench. Leaves us light, but we have some work to do in the creativity department.

Now the dust is settled, I think we’ll see

1\. Thompson
2\. Noffa
3\. Naiqama
4\. Marsters
5\. MWZ
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Packer
9\. McIlwrick
10\. Matulino
11\. Lawrence
12\. ET
13\. Eiso

14\. Marshall
15\. Rochow
16\. Twal
17\. Aloiai
18\. McQueen
19\. Grant
20\. Felise
21\. Milne

My man Jesse probably needs a couple ISP games before coming into calculations.

I'd like to see

1\. Thompson
2\. Watene-Zelezniak
3\. Naiqama
4\. Martsers
5\. Nofoaluma
6\. Lolohea
7\. Brooks
8\. Packer
9\. Taylor
10\. Twal
11\. Lawrence
12\. Aloiai
13\. Eisenhurth

14\. Reynolds
15\. Matulino
16\. Grant
17\. Rochow

ET would make the most sense at 9, but I think Godinet deserves to start. Who will be goal kicker if Lolo doesn’t get the wing spot, perhaps he should play Centre.

Taylor cant play 80min at DH, and what we saw last night, Reynolds should be nowhere near that function?

I'd like to see for round 1:

1\. Lolohea (Kicker)
2\. Thompson
3\. Naiqama
4\. Marsters (Second kicker)
5\. Nofoaluma
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Packer
9\. Taylor
10\. Twal
11\. Lawrence
12\. Aloiai
13\. Eisenhuth

14\. Godinet
15\. Matulino
16\. Grant
17\. Rochow

Unlucky and did nothing wrong - Felise, MWZ, Milne (Marshall will need a few runs and should go onto the bench when Liddle comes back and Godinet to ISP. McQueen also needs a few runs for confidence more than anything else.
Should not be anywhere near the team - Fonua and McIlwrick

I actually really like that team out of all the other ones. Milne could swap for Naiqama maybe, but when ET gets tired or a little dusty with his service Godinet comes on.

The first trial gave cause for optimism, but the second was a bit of a reality check.

I think Clearly will generally opt for players with some game time in their legs. Therefor players like Marshall, Sue, Twal and to a lesser extent McQueen will start their seasons in the ISP.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Clearly has intentions of using Taylor as an 80 minute right-edge forward similar to the back end of last season (it’s how Clearly often used him at Penrith and Warriors), but Taylor’s preparation has been disrupted with a grade 1 hamstring strain, so he might be suited to starting games a dummy-half for a while where he won’t have to stride out as much. This brings Godinet on to the bench, who’s started the season well with his service and threat from dummy-half. If Taylor is still not ready then McIlwrick will start. Liddle’s return and continued development is important for the Tigers, he needs to kick on and become one of the games top dummy-halves, it’s such a key position and at the moment the Tigers are using bit-part players and journeymen.

I believe Eiso, Aloiai and Sue are all best suited to the 13 role, so I’ve got Aloiai rotating with Eiso. Considering Sue and Twal have no game time thus far I’m thinking Grant and Felise will get the nod for the remaining bench spots.

Extra bonus of 4 captains for Round 1, Roosters will only have 2…

1\. Thompson
2\. Nofoaluma
3\. Marsters
4\. Naiqama
5\. Watene-Zelezniak
6\. Reynolds (c)
7\. Brooks
8\. Packer (c)
9\. Taylor (c)
10\. Matulino
11\. Rochow
12\. Lawrence (c)
13\. Eisenhuth

14\. Godinet
15\. Aloiai
16\. Grant
17\. Felise

Disappointed with Lolohea - obviously not reaching his KPI’s. If the Tigers are going to do well in 2108 then Lolohea and Liddle need to be in the side and playing well.

What I think we will see:

1\. Thompson
2\. Nofoaluma
3\. Naiqama
4\. Masters
5\. Watene-Zelezniak
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Packer
9\. McIlwrick
10\. Matulino
11\. Taylor
12\. Lawrence
13\. Eisenhuth

14\. Godinet
15\. Aloiai
16\. Twal
17\. Rochow

I'd prefer someone else in the centres over Naiqama but neither Milne or Fonua have been particularly impressive.

My team and why

Corey Thompson stand out trials
David Nofoaluma Returns
Tanne Milne Defence combo With masters
Marsters Good meters & defence
Malakai Watene-Zalezniak some speed and good trials
Josh Reynolds Best option and experience never say die attitude
Luke Brooks or Gamble I like Gamble better and think he will be there before long but Ivan won't want to demote Brooks just yet
I think it will take 3 rounds
Russell Packer experience and Size
Taylor tackling machine
Tim Grant good trial form
Robbie Rochow good trial form
Chris Lawrence good against the sharks and experience
Matt Eisenhuth long minutes size and power

Interchange:
Josh Aloiai size and power
Twal good solid forward and defence
Matalino Experience
Lolohea Creativity and ability to brake the line can play anywhere in the backs

Our defence against the cowboys was better
This is why I chose a Milne Masters centre combination and helps Nofo with his defence

Quote from Ivan
Lewis looked destined to score off a chargedown and Corey somehow got back there to save it — that epitomises what he is about.

“It’s hard not to [get him the Round 1 team],sounds like he wants Lolohea also going by that sentence
Liddle to come in round 4 or 5
Grant or Rochow out
