Realistic team list round 1 2018

MWZ is also a good player and he can catch the high ball well. He could easily take a wing spot. Chee-Kam is another guy missing out and he could easily slot into a back row position.

Surely we are going to have a good reserve team.

It'll be interesting to see how we perform next year because we don't appear to have the top level class players but we have so much depth. If we get on a roll at some point we could have a good season because hopefully if we get an injury or a player loses form and is dropped the team doesn't have a big drop off.

I also think our class players haven't been good at winning us games. We may improve a lot but we could go just the same or bomb out.

MWZ is worthy of being in the mix, but I think guys like he, MCK, Felise, Naiqama and Grant will be purely depth players.

On the captaincy, in the Q&A Cleary and Pascoe did before Xmas, Cleary said he had not made a decision yet, and was waiting to see which player would rise above the others. I personally don’t care who gets named as long as it’s only one. Not a fan of co-captains.

Got a suspicion that the coach appreciates what MCK brings as a bench player. No problem with MWZ being picked either.

MCK tries every game. He just doesnt have the size or skillset for a 2nd rower and hes too slow for a centre.

1\. Tui
2\. nofo
3\. suli
4\. milne
5\. Fonua/naqaima/mwz (best trainer)
6\. reynolds
7\. brooks
8\. matulino
9\. mckillrick
10\. packer
11\. mcqueen
12\. Taylor
13\. Huth

14\. Marsters/marshall (depending opposition)
15\. Aloiai
16\. Grant
17\. Twal

I agree with everyone on what should be the best team for 2018, but I'm pretty sure the coach will go with the tried and tested 17 for round 1.

1\. Tui
2\. Nofo
3\. Suli
4\. Marsters
5\. Naiqama / MWZ
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Matulino
9\. McIlwrick
10\. Packer
11\. McQueen
12\. Lawrence (c?)
13\. Taylor (c??)

14\. Huth
15\. Twal
16\. Aloiai
17\. Grant or Marshall

Any of the new players like Milne, Fonua, etc, will have wait their time for either non performance of other players, or injury.

We cabt have Mcqueen,Lawrence and ET in the starting pack. Each of them only averages 60 metres or so a game. Eisenhuth was making 130 metres a game last year. He has to be Lock.

and liddle to hooker for some extra spark in attack

Aloiai has to start for mine. The backend of his season was the most excited i have been for a second rower at the Tigers in years. He has all the attributes…power, speed, a good motor, hits a phenomenon line and all at the age of 21!

I don't think Aloiai has a big motor and I think it's better to have him off the bench. If he is on the bench I still think it's better to have him play up the middle.

Still if he has the motor to play all game and we play him on the edge he could really be good for us.

He is one of our weapons but he is young and has gone missing at times so I'd play him up the middle. I view him a little like Taumalolo. He isn't as good but he has that same ability to get a team rolling forward and make a bust.

aloiai wont be 2nd rower over mcqueen and taylor. Huth has to go lock. aloiai would be excellent impact off the bench either playin in the middle or on the edge

It's probably a bit too early for this, since it is only round 5, but I think we are going to see quite a few changes in the team by round 1 next year. Especially with a new coach. Who do we keep, who goes and who do we bring in? Thoughts?

So much has changed since you started this thread Tacky.

We have a lot of depth but lack star quality and athleticism.

NRL: 1.Tui 2\. Nofa 3\. Suli 4\. Milne 5\. Fonua 6\. Reynolds 7\. Brooks 8\. Matulino 9\. Liddle 10\. Packer 11\. McQueen 12\. Aloai 13\. ET 14\. Marsters 15\. Huth 16\. Twal 17\. Marshall

I can’t see room for Sue and Lawrence based on last years form.

I know ay, feels like a decade ago now. We did better with recruitment then I thought we would though.

:astonished: no way would it be masters and marshall on the NRL bench!!..+ only one decent prop in twal!!?? 😕

Is there any problem with playing Eisenhuth as a prop. He's got the frame for it and he's been playing in the middle anyway

he can play very long minutes…. so I think the size of the pack and balance work better having him at lock. his long limbs help wrapping up the ball and offloading in attack.
