Refereeing in 2017

Walking off the mark, is one that really sh**s me. The player playing the ball takes 2 or 3 more steps after the Held call and takes out the markers. It happens to the Tigers all the time. It should be a penalty but the commentators just call a quick play the ball.

The whole play the ball is a mess. Players move off the mark, step around markers (but no Woodsy, they'll never call it), don't play it properly and don't rise with the ball. The amount of penalties earned by trying to leverage yourself up off the ball and flopping to the floor is flat out absurd given its against the rules itself. Wouldn't take much to fix, just focus on enforcing it for a good few weeks and coaches will iron it out quick.

They have been doing that a bit. When players have been planting the ball before rising and then losing control, even when the loss of control is because an opposition player has bumped their arm, they have been ruling knock on rather than penalising the opposition.

It's ridiculous.
They allow players to breach the rules by putting the ball on the ground and levering themselves up to get a quick ptb, but if there's any mess or interference the defence gets rewarded… It's s like they say if you're good enough at breaking the rules we'll look away.
Another 'too hard basket' case for them

I find it frustrating when the tackled player moves sideways off the mark to play the ball and then the markers (who were standing in the correct spot) get penalised for not being square.

What they are murdering is the obstruction, back to all this outside shoulder stuff, it's just evident you can't make an obstruction ruling black and white, it's all in context. The onus should be on the defending team to have stopped the try, not the attacking team to not feather-touch anyone ever any time.

Also the forward pass has gone rugby-style recently, quite a few howlers. Broncos are masters at it, McCullough throws 100 line-ball passes per game and they have definitely scored 4 or 5 tries of legit forward passes this year.

Add to that, the line up at a PTBall about a metre off the try line is an absolute joke, both defenders feet shouould be behind the tryline, NOT one behind the ball players feet.
This also applies when there is a goal line drop out, the outside players are often way offside.
Actually there are few Things that are not being let go these days. What's the point of having rules when they are not used, I don't care how many penalties are blown if it means that the actual rules are eventually going to be used
No ones knows now what rulebreakages will be policed on any given day.
Just get the Referees to referee the bloody game, not Coach players, and dont "manage" the game.
That's not their job , neither is making it "flow"
