Referendum 2023

It will have zero impact for most Australians and potentially far reaching impact for arguably the most disadvantaged group in the country. It probably speaks more to how self-centred we’ve become as a society that people aren’t willing to see these things.
This is exactly the reason the referendum will fail. The righteous trying to shame the undecided into voting yes.

Education = wealth. Not anymore. Self education - a different story. However Greg. I love your wording. There is education in it. I had to read your post at least 4 times. And im probably still wrong - cause I don't claim to know what you are thinking. But the way you worded is above my level and you made me think. Thank You
Thanks, ill explain further. Education does not equal wealth, not anymore as you said.
However, wealth equals education (or at least educational opportunity). In that it is the wealthy who can afford:
- the better schools
- tutors/books/other learning aids
- to support a child/young adult financially whilst they are studying, taking on an internship or volunteer work that leads to further education/employment.
- attend networking events, or even have the contacts to be invited to such events
I'm sure there is more but this is just off the top of my head.
Any one individual can overcome this economic injustice to achieve educational/life success. But when it comes to the overall educational outcomes of the wealthy vs the non-wealthy the results are quite predictable.
Edit* this does not consider further determinants such as how the family and peers value education. Typically, all determinants of education are lower in low income areas.

The wealthy do not need education.

"it ain't necessarily so", multiple degrees from the finest Ivy League Universities cannot get you to 0.0001%
of the wealth of Gates, Jobs, Buffett, Soros, LeBron, Djokovic, Reinhart etc.

In Sydney Mosman council recently rejected on Tuesday night an Aboriginal land claim for Lawry Plunkett reserve behind Balmoral Beach worth about $100 million.

Original application was made under the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 and initial claim was made by the Sydney Metropolitan Aboriginal Land Council in 2009 and only just being heard now.

Perhaps Albo might like to explain how a Yes to the Voice might affect councils rights moving forward, currently 40,000 Land requests across Australia.

Start explaining some detail PM

No-one is talking about becoming the .0001%. Simply becoming part of the upper class or even upper middle class. The fact there is even a class system (that is steadily increasing) is why i refuted the claims of
"They have more opportunities for work and education than everyone else
The claim they are more likely to be imprisoned is a joke".
Work, education and crime are all specifically linked to socio-economic status.
Anyhow i feel we are moving off topic.

I strongly disagree with this. The biggest indicator of access to education is wealth. The historic treatment of Indigenous people has resulted in them, on a whole, starting from a much lower socio-economic status. Sure, at an individual level an Indigenous person may have better opportunities then a similarly disadvantaged anglo or migrant but at a population level it is just not true.
Similarly, poor economic status is the leading indicator of crime. Again, not an excuse for any individual but understandable at a population level.
Those are excuses only.
Education opportunities exist currently with subsidies. There are quotas on work sites. Crime is related to social conditions but it’s not like they are the only collection of individuals experiencing them
How will the voice change this?

More power for Albo and the people he works for. Look at Canada. Look at New Zealand. Look at Wests Tigers. Look at the world. You really think he cares for them or us? Really?

Such as?
I get labelled racist a lot simply by questioning this.
I rarely agree with you on football matters but I'm with you 100% on this one and I think you have campaigned admirably.
I can claim Aboriginality, which I don't but if I did, I'd say I was privileged. I scored enough in my HSC to go to university but if I didn't, I could have gone anyway. I went to a good school which my parents paid for but I could have gone to a better one if I wanted, as my brothers kids did. Because they could. I grew up in working class Balmain. My old man worked pretty damn hard and died young. He was a Pom. You're born, you do your best, then you die. Same as everyone else. I made my choices and I'm happy with my outcome so far and if I wasn't, I should only have myself to blame but in my circumstance, I could blame everybody else.
I'm more than happy to carry on as one of 25 million other Australian citizens and just do my best.
