Referendum 2023

Dont worry about Earls 2 - 3%, he is referring to me correctly pointing out that indigenous prisoners die in custody at a lower proportion to non indigenous prisoners. He claimed I was wrong because only 2 -3% of the national population are indigenous, but when I explained to him and sent him the ABS statistics that 30% of the prison population is indigenous, he put me on ignore. That is what he is talking about.
When you are that privileged you don't even have to understand basic math.

I've got 4 quotes I haven't responded to, I can't
be bothered tbh. One thing is for certain though,
people really show their true colours when it comes
to contentious topics such as this/politics. Shows
what type of person they are and what they stand
for. To each their own at the end of the day I
suppose. We're all right & wrong at the same
time. And It's ok to have different view points
as long as they're expressed in good faith and
respectfully. I didn't think this thread would last
as long as it has so credit to everyone involved

one of these things is not like the other

I'm not quite sure what you mean/what ur saying?

Rather than clarify what I mean, Id rather just post something vague that may or may not relate to what kind of person you or what your character is without actually being specific or backing it up if you dont mind. That way I can just sort of smear you or maybe different other people without actually committing to it or having reason to back it up. If I can gain a couple of virtue points in the process Im good.

Haha. Do whatever you want Misty. You're
not intellectually superior than anyone on
here you dweeb. It's not about virtue points,
people should be free to express their opinions
without getting quoted & scrutinised at every
turn. I couldn't care less who you vote for at
the end of the day.I'm not here to prove you or anyone else wrong unlike urself. Now
go run along and get your shine box lmao

Not at all Earl. Just certain issues need to be prioritised as a matter of importance & I fail to see how the Voice is more important then said issues especially that said Issue is costing the Government $350 million & it's not even guaranteed to work.

The housing policy just passed (could have passed months ago if not opposed) is costing billions and just like every other policy, none are guaranteed to work. Please also understand that rental legislation, including price capping are state issues under our constitution/s, so totally separate from our federal government.

Try to adjust housing policies by regulation of short stay accommodation, fairer housing tax legislation and superannuation change, and the the vast majority of those who will be voting no on a voice, have already voted against such, would just do the same again.

If you still don't think that helping the overall by far most disadvantaged group in our community, because somebody else might be hard done by is a good reason, you have that right, even if I think it false equivalence.

Before visiting the voting booth, please consider the above, along with your post a little while ago regarding the advantages given to boomers and people of my age at your demographics expense.

You went outside the lines.

The kid lives at home with his parents and just
got back from holidays. Him lecturing anyone
on the cost of living, housing and what should
be prioritised (without acknowledging the past
governments f ups) is both bold & hilarious 2 me

I never claimed to be intellectually or otherwise superior, meanwhile you are the one posting "people really show their true colours when it comes to contentious topics such as this/politics. Shows what type of person they are". I can only see one person claiming superiority. I actually recently posted that I think that other than Earl everyone has posted in good faith....but you keep imagining that Im saying what ever makes you feel good mate.

Would hate to be scrutinised and told that Ive shown what my true colours are.....that would be a little judgy wouldnt it.

Credit to you and everyone involved.

What if you do want to help indigenous people but think enshrining a democratic imbalance based on race in the Constitution is the wrong way to go about it?

If that was the sole honest reason, I would simply suggest that person look to the imbalance of the ledger in other areas and that they vote informally instead of no.

I am up in the mountains of Sapa, northern Vietnam, on my third overseas trip, along with one to Tasmania and then the Daintree, all in the last 10 months, so I am certainly not going to pretend not to be privileged. Even if 4 of those breaks were primarily to give us (particularly our son) space from the darkness of living with chronic mental health at home.

I understand where @WesternSuburbsBoy is coming from, as I have similar concerns for the challenges that my 13yo son will encounter, particularly as climate change worsens, and just trying to give him some more information so that he can better understand things in forming his decision on the voice.

I've got a lot of love for @WesternSuburbsBoy
I'm just giving him stick! They are quite valid
concerns he brings up. Amazing you're still
travelling, hope you & the family Enjoy Bryce

I'm not trying to behave superior, honestly.
Time is a valuable commodity, don't want
to waste mine, hence the true colors statement.
I may have come across a bit uppity. You've made me walk back a few things in this thread
and I've happily conceded when I'm wrong.
I was a bit out of line with my last comment

I will agree with you on one thing (or maybe it is actually two) and that is that it is okay to have different points of view as long as they're expressed respectfully.

I also did not think this thread would last as long as it has so credit to everyone involved even if some of them have driven me crazy. (that is if I wasn't already)
