Channel 10 Sports Tonight has a piece on Matua tonight, and it asked the question could the Tigers be his new club. It showed him walking into the Tigers office at Concord which suggests the Tigers are talking to him…

I'm not sure about it. He played some good games for the Dogs but I can't see where he fits into our team. Is he a centre, is that what people are thinking? Otherwise I probably agree - a good prop, is what we need (especially as Payten probably won't play beyond next season)

I don't think we need another second rower when we already have Ellis, Fulton, Heighington and Moors and Dwyer coming off the bench. If we are not going to sign Tuiaki then we should have offered Michael Gordon a good deal or maybe go after a good fullback. McKinnon is injury prone and looks like he has lost alot of speed.

Right centre also impact off the bench can play anywhere in the centres 5/8 if desperate and any of the back row.. you blokes need to open up your eyes.. Todd Carney was playing bush football last year and now look at him, the best player so far this year IMO… Id welcome Reni, he has something to offer only at the right price tho

Todd Carney - now there is a player I would have thrown all the cash we have at.
But we don't need Maitua, he's a second rower and we have plenty of them. Of all the positions we could strengthen, surely that would be DEAD LAST on the list.

We have better, younger players in state cup then this bloke.
For the record I always liked matuia as a player, he is extremely tough and has some skill. However he is really a lock or at pinch a center. He was always too small to be a genuine second rower. He was great in the dogs pack of 04/05/06/07 because they had monsters up front laying the platform for him. Did anyone see him in his limited time at the sharks? He was terrible.
At 29 and after 2 years off he wouldn't fit into the dynamics of our team at all. As hybrid said Jason shirnack is a very similar type player who is 8 years his younger and already at the club. He is a lot more valuable to us then matuia would e.
