yes please, why wouldnt we,former soo and test player, still young has alot to offer
couldnt be any worse than cayless and skando.i think folkes would be pushing sheen to sign him

former troublemaker too.

so was carney, look at him now, this guy is too good a player to not get a second chance.

i think the general consensus says otherwise.

For all you people saying "No, we need a Metre eating Prop"…

Thats all good and well but if there isnt one out there why not buy a good quality player who will add great depth to our side...

Im not saying i would sign him but if the club think he has seriously sorted his issues out then i think he's definately worth a shot, IMO he could be a great hole running centre with good vision and would act as a great backup to plenty of positions.....

The One HD program "Thursday Night Live" featured Robbie Farah and Benny Elias

Both said he would be handy and that the Tigers were more than interested.

From the various NRL news in the DT:

RENI Maitua has wasted no time familiarising himself with rugby league's social set since returning from Indonesia. Courted by the Eels and Wests Tigers, Maitua was spotted chatting with Rooster Nate Myles at Kings Cross's newest NRL hot spot - The Club.

PS - Id Take Him especially partnering Chris Lawrence at Centre

Matuia is a little fat thing, i doubt he could make a permanant transition to the centres. He's also very unfit ATM

We've got centres and second rowers in Daniela and Moors who can't/struggle to even get a start. Why would you sign yet another one?

no no no not our sort of player we need, not a sort of player we want. Why waste a top 25 position on a player we dont need. Reeks of a Nick Grahame type signing

If fit I think he would usurp Blake Aysford for his centre spot.

Depth and Competition for spots is wonderful and something we WT fans aren't quite used to….

Reni Maitua is looking to jump-start his career in Melbourne

HAVING Craig Bellamy as coach and a desire to avoid the Sydney spotlight could sway Reni Maitua to revive his career in Melbourne.
>
Maitua, 28, will talk to Storm officials today about terms for next year.
>
**He met Wests Tigers yesterday and Parramatta on Monday. His manager, Sam Ayoub, said the utility wants to secure his future as soon as possible.\
\
"We're going to limit it to those (three) clubs because, while he wants to make a decision fairly quickly, he wants it to be the right decision," Ayoub said.\
\
That rules out Maitua's former clubs Cronulla and Canterbury.**
>
He was sacked by the Bulldogs in December 2008 for a string of behavourial issues.
>
Maitua then signed for the Sharks when, in May last year, he was caught with the banned steroid clenbuterol in his system.
>
The Sharks this week signed New Zealand international Jeremy Smith from St George Illawarra and centre Colin Best from Souths.
>
His two-year drug ban, means that Maitua will not be able to play for the first seven weeks of next season. He spent the summer working as a lifeguard at Maroubra Beach in Sydney.
>
But Maitua has played Test football and won a premiership with the Bulldogs in 2004.
>
Maitua's versatility in being able to play centre, five-eighth and backrow would make him a valuable addition to Melbourne, Wests Tigers or the Eels.
>
Parramatta will lose Feleti Mateo to the Warriors next year and the Tigers are a little light-on for a wide-running backrower-centre in the vein of Maitua or Mateo.
>
"There's been a lot of interest so we're being a bit selective of which clubs will be good for him," Ayoub said.
>
Melbourne showed interest in Maitua after the Bulldogs cut him, but he did not want to leave Sydney at the time.
>
The Storm has lost an international backrower in Ryan Hoffman as part of the purge of talent to get the club under the $4.2 million salary cap.
**But Melbourne might not be able to match what the Eels and Tigers can offer.**
>
Maitua cannot even train with a NRL team or use their club facilities until mid-May when his ban expires, and that could reduce his price significantly, to under $100,000\. The lure of Melbourne Storm's environment – being out of the rugby league spotlight in Sydney and working with the former assistant Test coach and NSW Origin coach Bellamy -- is strong.
>
"The squad, the coach because it's a very important contract to him given where he's at right now," Ayoub said.

I agree we need a prop but dont sign a dud for the sake of it, this bloke could fill a few spots & sheens would keep him on the straight & narrow. my info is he will sign with wests, & we could get him @ a good price.

I think Daniela would be a cheaper option to have on the field for 5 minutes towards the end of the game.
