Reni Maitua

According to the SMH we have signed him after Parra have signed Carl Webb (LOL) why not buy Hopoate SNR?? lol!!!

I think he will be a good signing, Folkes was the one who showed him the door at the dogs for poor performance, and missing training etc, so i think he will know his place before he comes and Sheens takes no crap!! Will be good signing

Saw him play for the sharks and I was amazed at how lazy he was. However for some reason, I can't help but feel this will be a good depth signing. May not make everyones first 17, but as we all know, injuries happen during the season.

I was willing to be blindly hopefull about the much vaunted Slammin Sam Harris and Pillow Peter Lewis. If we sign him I think I can be positive about signing him

I'm Optimistic here,

We all were critical of youngsters Brown and Daniella and they have provided the depth and competition for places in the top 17 that are contributing to the success of 2010 so far.

Reni if he gets his head right and his body fit will cover for 2nd row, lock and in the centers.

Not a bad gamble if the numbers are not over inflated

I think the issue is do we need him and could the dollars be channeled to a more needy area. My guess he will take over Fitzy's role next year as the mandatory man on the bench

I'm not sure if this article has been posted yet… but it looks like Reni has changed his attitude a bit, which might be why Sheens and Folkes are giving him a look in. Sounds like he is keeping himself in good condition, ready for next year.

All he really needed to do is to grow up. Hopefully he has after 2 years on the sidelines. He could be a fantastic, cheap addition if that's the case.

Whats wrong with Brown and Daniela doing role that again next year?

THESE are the photos that prove Reni Maitua is determined to resurrect his NRL career from the wreckage of a two-year drugs ban.

Overweight and under-motivated at the midpoint of his exile, Maitua last month booked himself into the hardcore Tiger Muay Thai and MMA training camp in Phuket.

The former Kangaroo travelled into the jungle alone and lived in a rudimentary shack.
"It was all about training and getting myself back together again," Maitua said.

"We were training up to five hours a day and it was the hottest month of the year.

"I went there by myself and met people from all over the world. It was a great change and it really broadened my horizons."

Led by an ex-US Marine named Randy, the camp practised cage fighting, mixed martial arts and road runs that saw Maitua shed 7kg in just over a fortnight.

"I don't believe in weight loss programs and diets - that's crap," Maitua said.

"Hard work is the only way to go and this has really given me my motivation back.

"All I need to do now is find a club so I can have my goals set to come back next year.

"I know I won't be on much money and that people might think I'm a liability, but I've got a point to prove. After being on that camp, I just want to rip in."

Maitua is aiming to have his future finalised within a month and his manager Sam Ayoub is already speaking to clubs. But since the 27-year-old can't train with an NRL team until next May, another trip to Thailand is on the horizon.

"I want to go back for a bit longer - maybe three months. I'd also love to have a couple of cage fighting bouts in Thailand," he said.

End

**Most Notable Quote is - the 27-year-old can't train with an NRL team until next May**

i really hope we do sign him…he can play.

All he really needed to do was get away from those bra boy dorks. He was riding on the coat tails of the gangs notoriety through the doco and court cases. That footage of him over in Thailand sparring fills me with hope he has turned a corner.

He is a good player, is an origin rep and is an international. He'll also come cheaper than he should....great money for value. Bring him on.

He's perfect…another backrower/centre on the bench..can't wait

Bra Boys are rubbish we don't need hanging around our club. Glorified gronks thinking they're gods gift to Sydney. No matter how good he may or may not be he does bring an unwanted element to our Tigers community. No thanks.

like what ?? is he going to make us all turn into bra boys ??….

... i believe he would be a good asset to the club, i really think he's 1st priority is footy now...

If he puts in the hard yards and has the right decipline he will be right for us.
If he has really changed for the better and is ready to take Sheens as his master he will be good otherwise if he sticks to his old ways this could be trouble for our club(provided he does join us that is)

No but his bra boy mates will follow him wherever he goes, and wherever there are bra boys, there are people up to no good. Next thing we know one of those Abberton dropkicks will be our #1 ticket holder.
I don't think we need Maitua at our club. he will be more trouble than he's worth.
