What’s the point of having fans if it’s only a few hundred. Unless they can get a half decent crowd there I don’t think they bother

It's a start.
A slow return to normal.. Everything is being gradually eased back in

But if it’s only a few hundred I don’t think they bother... costs money having fans at game, People will be upset if they miss out doesn’t make the TV quality any better and there’s no real atmosphere with so little fans there. I think they would wait to at least have a few thousand fans at games. That’s just my opinion about it

Yeah I agree there, surely there's increased costs with hiring more security, not sure if vendors would want to attempt to trade when there's only a few hundred there, and so fans would probably get annoyed that they can't purchase food/drinks. Scoreboard/screen operators, cleaners etc. A lot of base expense for limited income.

But they're not talking about a few hundred going by reports on TV news this morning... More than that

If they don't want to haemorrhage money, it will have to be more than a few hundred.

Everything is not about money ! If paid members are accepted at a reasonable level to sit around stadiums at games it is a show of loyalty to the fans that have put there money in to supporting there club .
There is no reason a few thousand supporters in large stadiums could not be accommodated, there does not even need to be food or drink sold ... bring your own . Social distancing at the urinals ?

Considering the massive drama with the NRL barely being able to afford the virus and 6 clubs apparently almost going under I think everything is about money in this situation.

I just don’t see the point in doing it if crowds aren’t at a somewhat healthy number we can’t expect to be able to go to any games this year with everything that’s happened

I think it's Woolongong where you can see the ocean in the background, that was a nice look I thought.

WIN Stadium is a picturesque place to watch any sport. I watched a Sydney FC home game a few seasons ago down there and we were situated in the north end of the stadium. Football in front of us and a 20 degree pivot to the left you could see the ocean.

Yeah, haven't been there for years, but it sure has nice vantage points from plenty of it's seats. Though the wind can be biting there on the wrong day.

It should be able to be worked around for most clubs at the larger venues, but will probably be a struggle for those with high ticketed membership numbers. Also think that it would be great as a reward for long term members.

Throwaway line on Triple M yesterday said this but of course didn’t mention the teams. Hooper or Kent - can’t remember which one. Josh may have more solid info though.

Brings up a bad memory of mine. When I was a young kid, I begged my dad to take me down to Wollongong to watch Balmain v Steelers. This is in the days when Illawarra were easy beats and no doubt that is why I picked this game to beg dad for. In those days the (I think) the only grandstand was an old style wooden seats directly facing the ocean. It was drizzling, freezing and blowing a gale. Balmain got pumped. Not a good day.

V'Landy's was able to secure enough money in the revised broadcast deal to ensure the salary cap and Club grants will remain as they are in 2021...that means players salaries remain in tact..

As for the Clubs going under that is the Clubs responsibility on how much they spend on the auxiliary and how they run their businesses...not the NRL..

Even if it was only 5000 people able to attend games at larger stadiums ...it would be worth it to the game...

Yeah, geez, I can just about feel it now. Wasn't there that day, though it just about perfectly describes another which my long departed best mate and I drove down for. We didn't get pumped, but Blacklock was displaying his many talents, so both good and sad, including the memories as I write.

Not just the game what a statement that would make to other countries that are suffering that this ? can be slowed and controlled !
Seeing supporters around the ground at a major sporting event has a larger ramification for our country that we are winning the battle !

This revised broadcast deal is worth less than the current one, but as you said the cap and club grand are staying the same. This means the NRL isn’t gonna have as much money to use as previous years unless cost cutting is done elsewhere.

I never blamed the NRL for clubs going under I’m just saying if having small crowds at games isn’t worth it financially to the clubs they won’t do it considering a lot do them don’t go well money wise

5000 people at a game seems fine to me. Anything under that probably isn’t worth it, having a small crowd there doesn’t really do anything for the game, it’s a TV game nowadays. It would be great for fans and for players but if it’s not worth it to the NRL or clubs they wouldn’t do it that’s all I’m saying it would have to be a decent crowd number like 5000 or more.

I saw it in an article from Rothfield - I said ‘apparently’ because I wasn’t sure how legitimate it was but I know some clubs don’t do well financially. They got bailed out by the $250mil Loan from England which was sorted out by the storm CEO
