Adam Doueihi talked about how they’ve been working on mainly defence at training. Says they know they’ll score points but they need to defend better. It’s obvious I know but at least Madge knows what needs to be improved, can’t say the same about our previous coaches 😂

lol..needing to improve defence is what Taylor's powerpoints were based on and got him the job..

No one including Maguire has accomplished it yet with any consistency

Article about him on SMH website. Saying had to get needle in his ankle at least once a week to get through the season with Souths. Started getting them at R13 and didn't train much also had to get re-needled drying half time some weeks.

Pretty crazy considering he was one of their better players in the finals series while having to do that. Hopefully he can become a threat with his running game for us

Same article says he barely trained all preseason the season break has allowed him to heal. grant likely 9. Doueihi practicing goal kicking but Benji is still first choice.

Yet I didn’t see any change in our defence when Taylor joined or by the time he left. He’s the one that got our wingers shooting way out of the line every time the ball got near them. When they didn’t work he didn’t try change it

I just did the ladder predictor thingo and I'm pleased to inform WTF Mighty Wests Tigers finished Minor Premiers on 38 competition points and the Rorters Manly and Souff's missed the 8...

All he is saying is Taylor based his whole gameplan here on defense, anyone that attended the information session he held when he first signed can attest to that. He pretty much refused to train for attack, hence the term Taylorball was coined.

And all I was saying is that no coaches have actually tried to change something with it and improve. Sure Taylor came in saying he wanted to improve our defence but after a year of it not working he didn’t try change it. Madge is already trying new things that’s my point

Which new things would they be....?

1st 2 games looked pretty much the same soft approach to me..

The best defensive period WT have produced in recent times was under Voldamort for the first 10 or so games in 2018...they could not maintain that type of scramble and it all eventually went to crap..

Last season there was an improvement in 1st contact and some good defensive performances but again it was unable to be maintained...

Trying new things? After having a full offseason to implement new defensive strategies, trying new things after 2 games doesn't sound like a positive to me.

Also your original post was about Madge knowing what needed to be changed unlike previous coaches, all @Geo said was that other coaches knew that too but it didn't make a difference.

Can’t tell you because they haven’t happened yet. He’s said in interviews he’s changing how they train after the performance against knights. Doueihi said they’re doing mainly defence at training, it’s not hard to put two and two together.

Seeing things didn’t work as planned and trying to fix it seems like a very good thing to me. Don’t forget we signed Leilua and Doueihi pretty late which means things have changed.

I don’t expect major changes he’s just saying he’s changing some things at training. The point is he’s willing to learn for mistakes and adjust things that need adjusting unlike previous coaches mid season

Obviously it does, may as well start as soon as possible. From what I can tell they’re doing 13 on 13 at training, players in press conferences have eluded to it.

V'Landy's has secured in the revised broadcast deal enough to ensure the salary cap and grants to Clubs will not change in 2021...

There will be no need to revise players contracts...

I didn’t see any attempts to change our defence after it didn’t work for a year when Taylor was here then he got sacked. It was the same system the entire time and it clearly didn’t work.
