This article highlights Trodden's push for WT to become a new club before Balmain goes under and control of Balmain's 50% is bought out (most likely) by Ashfield.

A magpies Bundy cup side has NO financial impact on WT. changing from a JV to a merged entity. The WT now have a unified nsw cup team and a pathway from juniors to nrl…

The real reason why trodden wants a merged club is so that it relieves Balmain's obligation as half owner to contribute to the JV that it is currently struggling to do so.

Despite what you perceive his motivations to be (to be honest I disagree in this regard, but not my point), do you agree with the principle of a structure that sees the club stand alone as a representative of both club's history and future?

Sufficient exposure in both Sydney and Campbelltown to satisfy growth areas for sponsors. State of the art stadiums with consumer comfort and excellent corporate facilities.

Heritage round: Brisbane (first team we played in 2000)
Rivalry round: St. George-Illawarra or North Qld

I wonder how many would agree to this? Again, many use Wests Tigers and as per your claim to "get on board or get out" when it best suits either Balmain or Western Suburbs.

If we were to do a stadium split which would be best for WT moving forward I would suggest the following

2 x Sunday afternoon @ Leichhardt (ties into nostalgia, satisfies a niche)
3 x SFS (Blockbuster games of larger drawing teams)
3 x Blutongue Stadium ( Best place to allocate some lower named teamms as we have a massive support base on the CC. Would also serve to give a more optioned breakdown of Season Tickets and likely increase our overall count)
4 x CSS. (Derby games where we can. At least one Monday night early in the season as during Daylight Saving it makes attendence from people with younger folk in the area more likely, also maintains our presence in the South West)

In fact with the Bluetongue allocation I would play exclusively interstate teams there. Not only would it sell tickets to see stars like Slater, Thurston, Hodges and Taylor but it throws an extra couple of hours in a bus on top of a plane ride which can take a toll

If we should all 'move on and get over it' ad history and tradition is out the window under a new structure then do we also stop playing at Leichhardt also? Do we stop relying on Ashfield & Campbelltown leagues clubs to back the club financially as they are of Wests Magpies origin? Do we stop wearing victa and philips jerseys as they are linked to balmain & wests?

WT is a business and sporting legacy of Wests & Balmain - thats why it was formed. Even if it reverted to a merged club from top to bottom, the club would need a viable leagues club or private owner behind it. A person or business that has an interest in taking it on. Do we want to be in a newcastle with tinkler situation?

The Tigers are going nowhere, the NRL will see to that, the TIGERS brand is too strong, they are the ones handed out the dollars now, not the Leagues club.

Balmain may struggle but not the Tigers.

Why would history and tradition go out the window by moving on? The history won't change, what matters is the future.

If angry old men are going to sit back and cry about how this and that are Balmain/Wests influenced decisions everytime something pops up they don't like, things are just going to go round and round in circles.

I will always be a Balmain fan, but I bought my Magpies heritage jersey and wear it proud. I've got nothing against respecting our history, but there is only one way forward.
