Will Wests Tigers be dopey enough to pay over 1/2 a million dollars for Reynolds to play for Canterbury....8 ball says sure ..why not..lets go to 650K..

You've just been snookered
Its very unlikely that Madge and the Club will pay anywhere near that
If Reynolds loves playing football then he will also need to compromise
Wests Tigers, Canterbury Bulldogs and Josh Reynolds all need to come to an agreement or Reynolds league career will almost certainly be over unless injury sticks our team.
I guess Josh has a decision to make
Take a pay cut of sorts (compromise) and join the Dogs, which will be much better for his mental health after the issues he has to put up with of late
Playing should allow him to concentrate on playing the game and not his past

Or stay with the Wests Tigers and at best hope for a bench spot if someone in our team was to get injured.

Sitting on the sidelines would all but end his career after his Tigers contract ends

But that's just my opinion

Well if it was me I'd still want to collect my million plus then head on over to France in a couple of years and smash up ESL for a bit..

Million a year ...million a game ......

I think Josh taking a pay cut is sorta like him letting us off easy by not demanding full contract value, due to knowing he's kind of robbed a living from us for two years.

Anything over 450 and we’d be idiots to let him go

For next year, yeah, definitely if based on $750k salary, though even harder for me to determine the figure for this year as I am uncertain as to what has already been paid. Pretty sure we paid full freight for the five months up until March, but unsure as to how it pans out after that?

If he was on 750 k that equates to 62.5 k a month. I think i read somewhere as well that full payment was made to March so thats 4 months @62,5k = 250k. Supposedly there has been a 20% decrease in salary since then so that would be 3 months @ 50k = 150k. Assuming all that is correct we have already paid him 400k for this season. If that 20% is applied to the remainder of the contract there is only 250K still to be paid for this year. We shouldn;t being paying a cent for the remainder of this year.

Players have been paid to end of May full pay - $437k out of $750. They get 80% of yearly pay overall so he will get 600k for the year meaning he is still due to be paid 163k still this yr.

If we are paying 500k mayby its over the 2 yrs - so 163k this yr and 350k next yr mayby

But Josh wants to get on a Greyhound .....

Josh has some big decisions to make. If he plays out his contract here, he might not be good enough to get decent money after it. But if he gets a starting position elsewhere, he might be able to play 2-3 years longer on extra money.

Contract value is all about momentum. If he moved to another club now, his value might decrease for 2020-2021. However, if he played well in those two years, his last contract could be good.

Staying here is a death sentence to his career unless he plans to retire here. There is not enough guaranteed game time to prove his worth.

Reynolds still at training today, he ain’t gone yet 😂

What's the countdown at now @Geo

If WT have / had cooperated and agreed to a good exchange and Reynolds still decided to hang on just for the money, my esteem for him and the way he has held himself through injuries etc here at WT will go down. If bulldogs were not serious that's ok but if WT and Bulldogs had sorted out a good exchange he can rot in reserve grade.

So two employers can make arrangements and decide your future without your permission or input and you OK with that? Decide that you get less money and all is OK? I’m a stubborn old bugger and that would just make me dig my heals in. Pay me what is in my contract please.

I hope he stays, I think we will need a fit JR before the end of the season.

It’s not his fault the club payed him too much. He can’t be expected to forfeit some of his contract just because the club wants to boot him.

It's a good point, but it depends on the amount. If he has to take considerably less to leave, then yes he should totally stay. But if it's a relatively small amount less, then he should go.

For mine, if he's looking at leaving, following his heart back to the Dogs, then his heart obviously isn't here and I would prefer him gone. Let's see what happens.

I really do like the fact that not much at all is leaking out through the media.
