Reynolds under police investigation over nightclub altercation

Just providing a different perspective from my direct observation over a period of 45min or so.

Because football players being gentlemen and polite does not sell newspapers or create click bait for advertisers.

What do you do when a player you don't like joins the team you love?
I ask this because Reynolds to me is one step away from Matai, how would everyone feel if we signed Matai when he was playing? because that's how I felt when Reynolds was announced.
He's got a lot to prove next year.

Matai was probably the toughest centre in the game in his prime. Id have loved him.

Toughest is debatable. Most physical for sure. Would have been rapt to have him in our colours back then.
Hated Tezza and Hoppa when they played for Manly but loved watching them play for WT (apart from Hoppa polishing his fingernails up Cowboy blurters!). No matter how much you hate a player you always change your tune when they pull on your teams' jersey IMO….....apart from Braith the malingering walloper.

I would have killed to have a player like him. He would have been this club's best ever center.

I understand what you're saying about Matai and why you'd want him but he was an absolute grub, his attitude on the field isn't something I'd want at this club.
I would have loved to have a player "like" him too but just not him.

me too - couldn't stand the guy and thought he was a sneaky dirty player but would pick him in my side every day of the week. This attitude of having a lily white team is ridiculous - if thats what you want then maybe you should be following a different sport - croquet comes to mind

Are there any night clubs around Belmore way?….When he joins the Tigers there is the Unity Hotel in Balmain he can call home.

What - you think he is going to uproot his family and move to Balmain so he can drink at the Unity Hotel.

Couldn't agree more. Sick to death of people "passing" on mongrels or "dirty" players. We are supposed to be a rugby league team, not a choir. Grow up and accept RL (or it was) a tough game played by tough people and that means sometimes people will suffer a bit of white line fever occasionally - I love it.
Love Reynolds' never say die willing to do anything to win - as with Matai - would have been first picked in any of my teams at his peak.

You're one of the biggest complainers about this club, yet you don't want to get your hands dirty by bringing in players who could classify as grubs but are also ferocious competitors and are passionate. Something our players have lacked for years. The cleanskin approach has failed miserably.

On the field Matai was a fierce competitor - off the field by all reports by those who know him a great man. Just the type of player all clubs should aspire to attract.

To whom?

Matai was actually offered to us by Manly before he became a regular first grade player.Sheens refused.
It would have been as a swap for some nuffie we had but Tim liked. It was a golden opportunity missed

Fact?
Would be disappointed if true. When would that have been-'07 or something?

Is it a fact? I was of the understanding we chased Matai fairly hard when his first contract expired, because Sheens rated him. Matai wasn't fully established in FG at the time but stayed with Manly. He came to the NRL via NZ via Qld Cup (Wynnum) and Manly picked him up there as a 21 y.o.
