Absolutely no different - Robbie was picked in reggies and spat the dummy and created the media storm that followed. Grub is taking it on the chin like a true professional.

Ummm the difference is the way the coaching staff are keeping it in house. Dont let your opinion on each player confuse the issue here.

All i have to add is a good coach isnt just about game play, its about being in total control of his objective. being in control of situations that might blow up and become a drama.

Right now the Reynolds thing is not a drama. The media are judging it correctly as a coaching decision.

Massive difference but i dont expect all of our fans to get it. They didnt get it back then and i see no reason why they would suddenly get it now.

You are exactly right - but that was my point - the coaching staff in the other situation didn't have a say on keeping it in house. The said player and his manager made sure every media outlet on the planet knew about the fact that he had been dropped and was likely to remain in reggies. No doubt 50% of the forum will agree with me and 50% will agree with you.

The coach at the time used his assistant to play the heavy. That started all the disrespect and everything that followed.

Maguire isnt as stupid.

Although it’s odd that there has been no announcement re benji.
If the reason is benji is staying that Reynolds will have to go, surely that would be in conjunction with a re signing announcement for 2020.
My thoughts is the club wants to free cap money first and foremost. With Reynolds being one of our highest and possibly the most able ‘considering the injuries to packerlino’, he would be the ‘easiest’ to move on and probably get the highest return from ‘loss of salary, payed to another club’
Benji may still retire. We just may be holding the cards close until Reynolds finds a new club...

i think this is a good post. A little left of centre and most likely on the money.

Benji will have a nice cushy job at the club at the end of all this.

He already has a cushy job as a player?

Madge has done a lot of good things this year, but completely alienating high paid guys because you want them gone is counterproductive. Clear up the mess in the OFF SEASON. Not now.

Spot on, the whole Packer and Reynolds situation is amateur hour, and around $1.5 million of our cap

Thanks Ivan.

Ivan created it yes but we should deal with it way better, to just shut out 2 high profile highly paid recruits is not good coaching or good business

And that would be a good move by the club, but the job should be for next year not 2021

Time to move on

What, put them in reserve grade and tell them that they will not be picked regardless of how well they play. Seems a pretty similar scenario actually

I don't think Reynolds improves our side, especially by playing 14!

Well, the choice this week is ET or Josh as back up hooker...

And ET is the worst dummy half I have ever seen. Ever. Not even close.

At least Josh can rove around the field and offer a kick chase game.

Yeah good point, Reynolds would be the second worst though.

Play him @ 5/8 off the bench & back-up Benji can play hooker

Yes same scenario. Different way to go about it though.

Yes. Actually play reserve and fight for your position rather than go to the media, drag the organisation through the mud and spruik your entitlement as a self appointed legend of the club.

I'd actually get Brooks into dummy half for a spell.

With our season on the line i would like to have him at 14 just to cover injuries or if Liddle cannot make the 80 mins. Understand if this is how coach plans to move him on by saying he wont be in first grade but as fans that have missed the finals for 8 years straight we need everybody on desk to make the finals. If he plays well a team might be tempted to sign him and we gets the benefits of it now. I just don't know but I would have him in.

Against Manly, I think it is very important to play 4 forwards on the bench. With playing Liddle at hooker I don't know if that is possible though.

@Russell said in [Reynolds](/post/1047193) said:
Is there a reason Liddle can't play 80 minutes other than people on here saying he can't?

None. I just hope he stands up to the rigours of NRL. If he can do 80 minutes great, if he can do 60-70 minutes I can live with that. If he breaks down again and succombs to injury we have our answer on long term hooker.

It's a tough one, we play Reynolds.. he gets injured again, we're screwed. Hard enough getting rid of him as it is.

Great bloke, but he's not the sort of player this club needs. We are frantic enough without him.

@Harvey Karma and the ending that is deserved !

As much as I don't like Farah as a person I think that's a bit heavy and totally unwarranted. The guy can be grating on some but there is no denying his football skills and what he has given to the club on the field.

Let's not forget also at the time Farah was the state of origin hooker and was the best hooker at the club, and was replaced with player who was not a hooker.
Reynolds has had no form for three years. He and Brooks together are as erratic as each other. Not the game to be playing a halves combo that has never had time to gel. On the bench at best but even then would rather run with ET.

Agreed, there are some low class people on here!
