Reynolds

@851 Regardless of the situation if Reynolds is fit he should play .. I have heard Maguire say we are all adults in the discussion process , this decision certainly would not fit that bill . A bit petty to be frank sounds like another veteran is running the club and a coach allowing it , I expect the coaching staff to select the best possible players each week with saying that Benji certainly would be playing cc next week with a fit Reynolds taking his spot but that’s me !

9 Liddle

14 Josh

Roll the dice and we may have a shot.

14 ET and we won't win. That simple.

Madge has done a lot of good things this year, but completely alienating high paid guys because you want them gone is counterproductive. Clear up the mess in the OFF SEASON. Not now.

I don't think Reynolds improves our side, especially by playing 14!

@851
Although it’s odd that there has been no announcement re benji.
If the reason is benji is staying that Reynolds will have to go, surely that would be in conjunction with a re signing announcement for 2020.
My thoughts is the club wants to free cap money first and foremost. With Reynolds being one of our highest and possibly the most able ‘considering the injuries to packerlino’, he would be the ‘easiest’ to move on and probably get the highest return from ‘loss of salary, payed to another club’
Benji may still retire. We just may be holding the cards close until Reynolds finds a new club...

Like who says?

Madge, he told Grub things will not be changing next year, meaning Benji will be 6 and Grub will be in CC

Sorry misunderstood your post, I thought you were saying that the club had said Benji would be backup next year.

All good mate, I said in the other thread I didn't want Benji playing on next year because he wouldn't be a back up, he would be picked every week, I said if he was genuinely going to be a back up I could cop him playing another year.
But that will not be the case from everything I have seen read and heard.

Why do you think Benji gets picked every week?

I have no idea, yes he has played some good games, but also some shockers, he seems to get a free pass, where others are dropped

Well, the choice this week is ET or Josh as back up hooker...

And ET is the worst dummy half I have ever seen. Ever. Not even close.

At least Josh can rove around the field and offer a kick chase game.

And me too, Benji seems immune from the axe, unlike some others, accountability should be across the board, not just a select few

Yeah good point, Reynolds would be the second worst though.

I agree he is no good off the bench, he needs to start, and play five eighth

I also don't think he improves our side as a 5/8th either though.

Spot on, the whole Packer and Reynolds situation is amateur hour, and around $1.5 million of our cap

Absolutely no different - Robbie was picked in reggies and spat the dummy and created the media storm that followed. Grub is taking it on the chin like a true professional.

I do, he has a good short kicking game, he is always first on the kick chase, he would lift the whole team with his enthusiasm, and Brooks would feel more comfortable

Possibly, but at least he will chase kicks, talk and not give away two pens or go to sleep on a barge over try...

Ummm the difference is the way the coaching staff are keeping it in house. Dont let your opinion on each player confuse the issue here.

All i have to add is a good coach isnt just about game play, its about being in total control of his objective. being in control of situations that might blow up and become a drama.

Right now the Reynolds thing is not a drama. The media are judging it correctly as a coaching decision.

Massive difference but i dont expect all of our fans to get it. They didnt get it back then and i see no reason why they would suddenly get it now.

The issue I have is his poor passing game, with Reynolds playing 5/8th we have a half and a 5/8th that both struggle to create opportunities for our outside backs. Both rely on their running game to create chances.

Nailed it.

Club chose Brooks.

End of story.

With our season on the line i would like to have him at 14 just to cover injuries or if Liddle cannot make the 80 mins. Understand if this is how coach plans to move him on by saying he wont be in first grade but as fans that have missed the finals for 8 years straight we need everybody on desk to make the finals. If he plays well a team might be tempted to sign him and we gets the benefits of it now. I just don't know but I would have him in.

You are exactly right - but that was my point - the coaching staff in the other situation didn't have a say on keeping it in house. The said player and his manager made sure every media outlet on the planet knew about the fact that he had been dropped and was likely to remain in reggies. No doubt 50% of the forum will agree with me and 50% will agree with you.
