Richard Coorey - get this guy a goer

If they were such a passionate Dogs family youd think theyd live in the area…or make a sacrifice (travel) so he could play there. Still....Im not privvy to the family personally, though my son played with his younger brother elias at shammies.
If he was good enough Im sure a shrewd recruitment mgr and coach could find a carrot big enough...
But...we know the politics that exist at Balmain DJRL, and other districts, Ive seen too many examples in my brief time there of good players overlooked for those who ''know'' someone

Yeah politics or no politics good players are picked up at a moments notice by any of the 16 clubs

Its so hard to find talent for some clubs who can't develop their own talent

I'm not saying this young fella isn't the real deal , just know that's club usually are scrambling over their own mothers to pick up good players

It is a shame but we lost another junior almost identically except this guys father was a Tigers Legend ( young Michell Pearce, son of one of the greatest Tigers ever). so apart from a lot of guess work I would love to see him play against the bigger boys in NYC and then quickly into the NRL if he was capable of the quick time leap.
Good Luck Richard, it's just a shame that you will be playing in BLUE & WHITE rather than GOLD, WHITE & BLACK.

Mitchell Pearce wasn't the same situation. He chose to sign for the Roosters, reportedly to avoid the associations with his Dad's name at the Tigers. He was not overlooked by Tigers or avoided for political reasons; in fact Tigers made a very strong contract offer to him out of high school.

He played Matts for the Bears and he was the captain of Marist North Shore's Open A side, playing alongside Liam Foran. They both played Aus Schoolboys that year, 2006.

Junior Junior as had nothing to do with the Tigers, he was a Norths junior and went to the Roosters, one of about 14 clubs to be interested in him. Was a terrific player as a youngster.

In reply to some of the posts about his jumper number, I remember when I was his age 18 - 20 that I had to year jumpers without numbers as all the starting line-up jumpers were too small for me, the number on his back has NO importance as to his ability and or starting position, Richard is a very big lad and always seems to manage to get his notorious back-hand flick off-load away even when there are four if not five players trying to stop his forward momentum;
Alas there is no way that this Enfield Federal junior will ever play for the Wests Tigers, as has been stated his family is very closely rooted to the Blue & White team (Bulldogs) unfortunately this means if he plays NRL it will be for the CB Bulldogs, down the track if he is improving at the same rate and we (WESTS TIGERS) get our financial orders in affairs we may be able to0 get him to sign a VERY lucrative deal, but it is going to have to be in the millions over something like five (5) years and by millions I am talking about the amount that Robbie Farah is on now.
So disappointing and he has been working on leg speed and trying to decrease his size so that he will be of benefit to any team who needs a forward or someone who can play in the centres such as happened to us this year when Jason Taylor put Matt lodge in the centres to replace one of the injured centres even when he had one the best defensive centres playing the other side of the second row (Chris Lawrence), by the way they scored three tries down Matt Lodge's side in about 15 minutes. Richard is a big loss to the WESTS TIGERS.

That was Kyle Lovett, not Matt Lodge dude.

Great strength & offload, just lacking some explosiveness. Seems to run in 1 gear.
If he works on short distance sprinting, he could turn out to be very destructive like some of the bigger boys in the NRL who can up another gear.
Good luck to him.

Mr Warren McDonnell was good enough to return my call today. He has watched all Ron Massey Cup games live or video and well aware of our Richard. He takes all things into consideration and gave me confidence he won't let any talent go unnoticed.

Well at least he is on our radar, it is just a matter of whether this then develops into offering him a contract.

While it's good hat we're aware of talent out there, it's also a bit worrying in a way that our head of recruitment is scouting Ron Massey so deeply considering how few players make the step up from there!

I disagree, I'd be disappointed if he wasn't considering all sources of players. That is his job. Imagine if he said "nup, I don't bother with Ron Massey, no talent there". People would be jumping on his head more than they already do.

Tbh, it'd be of huge concern if our recruitment team weren't keeping tabs on RM games (as well as the other, more professional comps), especially with our competitive disadvantage compared to the richer clubs.

You have PMS? That must suck.

I didn't say he shouldn't be scouting RM, just that it shouldn't be such a focal point when we have limited resources. Realistically only a handful of players step up from RM to NRL.

Considering our limited resources i'd much rather he watch every NRL, NSW Cup, NYC, SG Ball, QLD Intrust Cup, and ESL match before the RM cup. Maybe even hadd the NZ local comp too ahead of RM. If he's already doing the former and still has time to watch every single RM match then great. But if he's got to choose i'd take the options which carry a much higher success rate than an option which is convenient but ultimately pretty fruitless.

All the recruiters watch all Massey Cup games, there alot of players at the edge of 20's comps (many a year early) running around, not many NRL players come from RMC, but you also have to fill NSW and NYC sides and there are loads of blokes that move back and forward at the lower levels.

The games themselves can often be where they here tips about some young bloke from the country and stuff like that as well

Exactly. Any recruitment officer at NRL level would be tapped into all games being played, be it through watching them live, recorded or having a network of scouts keeping tabs on things. In 2016 if you're not doing this, you'd seriously question the club's professionalism.

How much would I love being paid to watch footy games all week. Maybe it would become tiresome, but currently I do it for free.

From the way I see it. It goes NRL > NSW cup > RMC and then 20s. Players like Shackleton, Kris Keating and others play RMC and obviously isn't just limited to 20 year olds and typically plays NSW cup style of games. I've seen RMC players go back and forth to NSW cup rather than 20s to NSW cup.
