RIP Taylor Hawkins

FWIW I saw Bush during their 'heyday' (probably '96?)

They were pretty crap then, I can't imagine time will have improved things.

Page Hamilton? That seems...a very strange mix.
Not Page, Some other guy that's been in them for a time...
It's very evident in the music, Big De-tuned Riffs...

Chris Trayner is his name - Also in Rival Schools, Orange 9mm

Oh, right. I had to look him up... he only appeared during the...not so great part of their history.

I don't know about that man, Metallica have been around for a long time and all...
But Foo Fighters have been stratospheric for the last 25 Years, Metallica have been fairly irrelevant in that same time....
They've been everywhere, Playing for anyone and everyone...

I have a mate who teaches guitar and all the young kids (8-12) want to learn Foo Fighters songs...
It's crazy!!
I used to be a massive Foo Fighters fan, And while I don't get into them as much as I used to...
There's no doubting they've been basically the biggest rock band on the planet for some time.

Oh, And Lars is an unlikeable douchebag
Yeah not sure of that. Metallica still play sold out stadiums everywhere they go, and they've toured more that most bands in music history, including the last 25 years. They might not get radio airplay anymore but they have certainly not been forgotten by fans when it comes time to play a show in their hometown.

RIP to Taylor Hawkins, I haven't heard a heap of their music but There Is Nothing Left To Lose always get a regular spin from me. That's a pretty bloody good album👍. He seemed like a pretty laid back, likeable guy. Rock star life seems like the perfect job from the outside but it pretty clear it isn't in reality. A great many awesome musicians get lost in that life and end in an early demise. I guess it's like any job, after a while it'd be very monotonous and draining: especially for guys with a family.

Probably my favourite of their songs

I'm not going to argue with someone who's name is "Fade To Black"

As a casual observer of both bands - I can certainly tell you that Foo Fighters have been everywhere...
And Metallica no where. I understand Metallica still have their disciples and still play a bunch of Massive shows - Last I heard, They still sell a million copies of the black album every year...
They've also been ringing in Albums (Some of them utter garbage) for 30 odd years...

Obviously did enough way back when to continue to make a living out of it.
Good luck to 'em - I would still argue they're not a bigger band than the Foo Fighters these days.

Why is this comparison stuff going down in a memorial thread for a man who has passed on only a couple of days ago?
