RIP Taylor Hawkins

Point…
His drumming suits them, and is harder / weirder than it seems it would be.
Mustaine is a Nazi though - he’s sacked a pot load of great drummers… and the rest have run cos he’s a goose.
Every time I hear him bag another musician I wish I could slap him and make him listen to his own singing…
Haha I agree he has a horrible voice.
Lars cops a lot of stink. He is not as fancy or as technical as some.
Saying that, his drum sound on the early albums was great. It hit hard and had good groove, matching the killer riffs.

Glad I got to see them at Soundwave in 2015. That was a bumper of a bill that year. Soundgarden, Faith No More, Marilyn Manson, Steel Panther, Smashing Pumpkins, Slash and Miles Kennedy, Slipknot.
Yeah was an amazing tour that one, I also saw Soundgarden at their side show at Luna Park that tour.

Imagine if Dave had stayed in Metallica. Not sure the universe could have handled 3 egos like that in one band.

Fantastic Guitarist...

Cracks me up when he whinges about being kicked out of Metallica - He's basically made a career of hiring and firing band members - Or having them run, Because he's such a goose.

That’s why I mentioned Zepplin earlier. They were a family. The common belief in music is that you can replace anyone but the singer, but when a band like Zepplin were as tight as they were lose a brother, they can’t do it anymore. I can’t think of another current drummer who is as well known as Taylor was. He and Dave were equal in terms of being the face of the band.
Lars would hands-down be more well known than Taylor. Absolutely no doubt about it.

A lot of people want to rag on Lars because they don't like him for what happened with Napster. He stood up for himself and the whole music industry which most didn't have the balls to do.

Like you say, he's not as technical as some but still a brilliant drummer who knew how to play his role- especially on the first few albums. Joey Jordison filled in for him when they were on tour and played all of the classics, much more talented ability-wise but all the extra unecessary stuff he threw in detracted from the songs instead of adding to them. Lars is an icon👍.

I don't know about that man, Metallica have been around for a long time and all...
But Foo Fighters have been stratospheric for the last 25 Years, Metallica have been fairly irrelevant in that same time....
They've been everywhere, Playing for anyone and everyone...

I have a mate who teaches guitar and all the young kids (8-12) want to learn Foo Fighters songs...
It's crazy!!
I used to be a massive Foo Fighters fan, And while I don't get into them as much as I used to...
There's no doubting they've been basically the biggest rock band on the planet for some time.

Oh, And Lars is an unlikeable douchebag

Well if that is the case I am glad i didn't end up going.
FWIW I saw Bush during their 'heyday' (probably '96?)

They were pretty crap then, I can't imagine time will have improved things.

I was the first person in Australia to order their first album…. I’d never seen them before either - they were good, very different style these days (they have the guitarist from Helmet and it comes through)
Page Hamilton? That seems...a very strange mix.
