RLW rated our recruitment and we are a ....

how was our recruitment for 2005? We're not going to have the same year as that but I remember looking at our lineup that year and thinking how bad our year would be, yet again. No one could have predicted how solid our centres would be, how good Prince would play or how good our emerging players would be. This side has a little of that

How about we let the year play out and then assess the signings based on their performances?

We're tipped to either land or land close to the spoon, we're going to cop it in the media unless we jump out of the gates and have a good start to the year.

Matt Elliott has the same assessment in DT - whose cheating here. Although Elliotts assessment of us is a Z. Gotta love the DT just can't let go. He gives Cowboys a B - they bought Shaun Hudson and Jahrome Hughes ( who actually came up through the Blackhawks so would hardlt be a buy ). What a joke.

If recruitments was just about buying marquee players than the RLW would be close to the mark, but our recruitment strategy was all about getting as much value out of the limited dollars we had to spend and strengthen our dept right across the grades.

I think the club has done really well. Lets face it you buy one marquee signing and he pops a shoulder or blows a ACL and is done for the year, at least we got multiple signings all with potential. Any recruitment is a gamble but I think we are stronger club in 2016 than 2015

Yeah that pretty much sums it up.

All things considering im pretty happy with who we have got. Potential and upside compared to cost are extremely high!

Yeah the Cowboys rating is the biggest WTF out of them all. They sign 2 no name nuffies and get a B+.

If people get upset with how the media portrays us then pace yourselves. You're going to see a lot more of the same, especially if we're at the bottom of the ladder.

Now everything is in JT''s hands - for better or worse, hold on tight

The press will be all over us all year after all the off season drama. Every loss will have people in the media referring it back to Farahgate. The only way to shut them up will be to achieve a top eight finish and really even my one eye has trouble getting my head around that possibility

I fail to understand how anybody can argue?

Obviously it's true. We lost Pat Richards & Martin Tapau, two international quality players. We did not sign any rep quality players. We signed a lot of okay depth quality players

If anybody says Tim Grant, please!~!

I think it's hilarious all these people hating the media for voicing a fair opinion lol.

The psychology of sports fans have is fascinating. Insulting their team is like insulting a family member.

Could agree more Super Coach/Ghost,
We could not have recruited better!

We would be looking at an A+ if cap situation was a consideration.

Still,I can understand the pessimism outside of the wests tigers, but mark my words, these new boys will be jumping outta there skins to get out there and rip in.

Can't wait!

Taupau is a loss, but Richards was barely FG standard in 2015, let alone 'international quality'.
I don't really have an issue with our grade, given most of the guys we've signed are punts. Some of the others are very strange though - almost as if they've not put much thought into it….

Richards was terrible last year. If we had a fast winger there we would have had a better season. Taupau is a big loss. He can have an impact on a game and I don't think we have any forwards that can have an impact like Taupau can.

We have much better depth this season and some players may surprise and some players may kick on.

For years the media have had there own agendas and against us, some have come out saying they don't like us or some players on the roster.Tigers supporters have thick skin, and all the ratings will be water off a ducks back, the best way to give it to the man is pray the team goes well or if we can just beat Souths. But saying that I give it to Elliot from the sidelines.

Well said ghost. We really couldn't have asked for much more for the financial situation we are in-anyone who disagrees really is living in la-la land TBH. RLW is a really pathetic publication these days, it used to be interesting and informative but now half of their stories are made up of rumour from forums, Chinese whispers and just plain made-up garbage, it is fair dinkum like a teenyboppers music magazine these days.
Parra have certainly done alright for a club that was over the cap last year and threatened with more fines, loss of competition points etc for this season. Farcical.

I'd be interested to know the criteria for the ratings (if there was a criteria). Are the ratings of recruitment based on need or just headline names? For example would a star studded team that only recruits a second string halfback also receive an F?

Melbourne B- ???
Cheyse Blair (Manly Sea Eagles, 2016), Jeremy Hawkins (Canberra Raiders, 2017), Mark Nicholls (Canberra Raiders, 2016), Matt White (Gold Coast Titans, 2016)

I would take our F recruits over Storm's B- any day

With the record the Storm have of signing average players who turn out to be world beaters i'd say they get cut a lot of slack.

Just who are these 'world beaters' you speak of. Fair enough they take some average players who perform quite a bit better in the Storm side( playing with 4 or 5 Origin players every week might have a little to do with that as well you would think), but I can't think of any nuffies who have turned into superstars after signing with Storm.
