RoarFEED (iPhone/iPod App) Development Thread

Ive used PC all my life and got this macbook pro for christmas and its so much better than PC it isnt funny. It does everything much better and faster and i cant get viruses.

cheers man

got back yesterday but am straight back into getting this new site ready. So excited!

I worked for Apple for a while. Its a marketing driven Cult.

PS - Kul How good is the food OS ???

Spartan put me onto Google Chrome today. I'm already in love with it. So much more stable and faster than IE.

Out of curiosity though, my fonts all have appeared to have changed from IE, is there settings available through the Chrome browser where I can view everything in the same fonts as IE?

On topic though, cannot wait to see the app.

The virus thing is due to market penetration. When you have 90% of computer uses running Windows, and most of them largely unprotected, it's an easier target.

Once (if) Macs become more dominant in the market you will see more virus / scams targeting them.

Awsome extensions (add ons) as well …

I have the following installed to build on the browsing experiance.

Adblock Plus for Google Chrome™ (Beta) - Blocks ads. **Kiss ads goodbye and browse in peace!**
Google Dictionary (by Google) - Version: 2.0.1 - **doubleclick any word for an instant Defanition**
Google Mail Checker

Ps Mr Google PM me for my contact details so you can forward me a commission
Pss Thx Geo

New Site: it is coming along. still working on a few things. Start of the season, if not during the Trials.
Iphone App: since a lot of its functionality is tied into the new site it will be released around the same time. Put it this way, it's about 85%-90% complete. Just waiting on some stuff on the new site to be complete.
Android App: once the iphone app is released and bugs are fixed i'll get started on this.

If this app ever makes its way to blackberry (my work gave it to me) I'll be wanting it. Looks great!

True, but it's largely the way Windows OS is built. I mean you delete one .dll file and it all goes to shit.

Windows should give up trying to design Windows OS for general people, they don't understand what people want. They should just build OS for businesses, that's what they are good at. I mean, there's like 5 different version of windows, why can't you just have one version with everything? I guess that's why apple is now worth $50 billion more than Microsoft.

Macs rule.

UPDATE

RoarFEED is nearing completion on the Apple platform. A bit of preliminary work has been done on the Android app but it's still early days.

The features include:

* News - latest WT/JV news with links to the relevant forum thread
User Login - use your forum account to log in. This is required to access some of the other features
Draw - full season draw
–-> Upcoming Match - full details about the upcoming matches, tickets, directions, etc
---> Previous Match - match reports, ratings, rate the match yourself, all that stuff
Team List - team lists for first grade, u20's and State Cup including the opposition teams. Updated LIVE
Player of the Year - a full suite. This will probably be the most comprehensive POTY poll in Rugby League outside of the Dally M's
Tipping Comp - yup! A full tipping comp! Submit your tips directly from the app, see your progress and rank
Fan Shout! - an enhanced twitter/shoutbox for Wests Tigers fans
Forum - a smartphone friendly forum interface

I'm just waiting to get approval from Apple to begin implementing Push notifications for news items and the team list. In other words, the MOMENT the team is announced on a Tuesday afternoon your phone will go "BUZZZZ" with a message saying "the team list has been announced!". Awesome huh!?

Jealous!!

Just wana jump on the Mac vs PC comments….

Mac's are overpriced pieces of crap from Korea... Jobs has said they won't support Sandy Bridge until 2012!!! By which time... intel's new architecture will be ready.

I've long hated Windows and as result loved various distros of Linux (of whom Mac steal design and ideas from CONSTANTLY), however Windows 7 is the best OS i have ever used... If you want a Modern Day computer, Mac's are far from it... Hell... they are god damn PC's (ever since the power-pc died) shoved in an aluminium case and loaded with an OS based on a 20yr old kernel!!!

Also... for those Mac Book Air lovers... http://www.samsung.com/us/news/newsRead.do?news_seq=19774&gltype=" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This DOMINATES the air in EVERY aspect

GOD I HATE STEVE JOBS!!!

Ahhhhh [/end rant]

Anyway….

Haha… I am pretty confident the upcoming features should make all you guys happy... This site was built over a few weeks... this has been a work in progress and spanned nearly 6 months!

I can't wait to Launch it guys... and we will need everyone's help in finding bugs, hopefully there aren't too many...

Just wondering if you guys have thought about joining this app making it able to view the forum from your phones a lot easier.

We saw this… but opted for a forum friendly skin instead. I think what we'll produce will be alot better... and free for you guys. Tapatalk is free to view, but users have to pay to be able to post... as the roarfeed app... we want it all to be FREE!!!

can we get a teaser screenshot of the new site?

We don't want to give too much away Sabre, we are confident we'll get this live before Round 1 and racing the clock to launch before or during the trials… Not long to go
