Honestly todays game and our lack of direction in attack showed how special this kid can be.
without him we had nothing at all in attack from anywhere on the field. benji is usually at the centre of our trys but the work this kid does is so underrated its not funny. reminds me alot of the scott prince of 05 in how he complements benji and the rest of the team.
we wont score many trys until his back and firing. hopefully its soon

Whilst I agree that Lui is going better than last year, It is the other 6 players or so out that are hurting.

thats exactly what i thought until i began thinking why our attack had dissapointed so much today. whilst the other players are important i reckon lui would have made the most difference when we had about 6 or 7 back to back sets in their 20m zone. without him we seriously loooked lost in attack.

You cant compare moltzens first game @ half this year while missing half a dozen regulars..

Had Lote & Lawrence been in the lineup with moltz @ half, there would have been plenty of more speed & razzle dazzle down the left hand flank..

I like Lui, don't get my wrong, but i think he doesn't control the team like Moltz does… i was really happy with Moltz today, give the kid time and he will bring the flare Rob Lui has + direction and control of the team.

Biggest problem with our attack is Farah being unfit . He creates space because the markers can't leave early in case he decides to run and gives halves the chance to target players . Until Moltzen is 100% you can't compare the two of them . I like Lui more as he is a little more structured than Moltzen is , but the jury is still out .

The jury is definately out. IMO moltz did some good and bad today but I really think it's a bit early to get the knives out. Our biggest issue today was direction, there was next to none. Timmy hasnt really had a stable position since he's been back as lui and McKinnon have been performing well. He hasn't played a full 80 in a year and I think people need to appreciate that not too many players could rock up and have a stellar game, after so long, rebuilding confidence after a serious injury and slotting in as the utility the first few rounds. And I'm sure he'll do some great things and get a combo with benji going like he has in the past. Personally I think lui and moltzen are both potential halves although lui has stood up this year and really given the team direction and let benj use his running game. We can't drop moltz though, he adds spark to our attack and I could see him as a great fullback, slotting in as a 3rd receiver similar to Boyd for the dragons and hanging around the ruck looking for an offload. I was at the game today and I had a little food for thought on Utai - could it be worthwhile to use him off the bench later in the season as a strike back rower he's a tough nugget to tackle and makes plenty of yards?? thought I'd throw it out there.

Moltzen may have been better had he been getting match fitness in the lower grades and not sitting on the bench.

Since that never happened, we really missed Lui, Moltzen is underdone.

Struggled rly hard yesterday.
Obviously it wasn't just because Lui wasn't there but we'll be better off when we get all the boys back to match fitness.

Agree

….even with our forwards getting rolled over like they did yesterday?
I dont think so.

Had a mixed bag for mine. His effort to chase down Lieulia(?) and bring him down was terrific. Thought he worked well all day defensively. Patchy with the ball in hand, but that will happen when you're getting dominated at the front.

Lui was playing very well before his injury however I don't think he would have been enough yesterday to influence the result (wish it was it would be a simple solution). There were many factors that led to the defeat, the roosters attitude to win was apparent from the beginning of the game, WTs confidence was down, Farah trying his best but hampered by injury, the ball not getting to Benji enough, I could go on but most aspects have been posted in the various threads about yesterdays game. Time to focus on souths, it will be tough, you have your work cut out Sheensy.

Utai has been tried before at Dogs he seems to be allergic to tackling . Agree with everything else you said . i still think when we are at full strength that Moltzen could play wing but spend a lot of time sniffing around the ruck and sitting off MacKinnons hip He seems to find himself in the clear often enough and with a flyer like Moltzen to offload to could create more chances when we make breaks

Yet, for some reason Happy, some people on here seem to think that's a bad thing!

I thought Moltzen was very ordinary at half and that Miller showed more promise in the last 20\. I'd be giving Moltzen a few full games in the state cup so he can get some confidence. I don't think 20 minutes here and there, or throwing him in at half has worked.

Dont get me wrong i love love moltzen as a player. Defnitely one of my favourites. But i think he bombed about 4 trys yesterday by taking the wrong option. Had lui been there i doubt that would have happend based on his performances in his last 10 first grade games. We need this kid fit and firing at halfback ASAP!!

Moltzen was fine yesterday, apart from our kicking game.

I watch every tigers game twice, and Lui has been ok, but by no means brilliant , I think having SOOO many players out was the issue, not simply having Lui missing.

Our potent left side attack missing, all those forwards missing, young guys being asked to do things they are not ready for yet, that was the problem

Wingers dont hang around the ruck, fullbacks do…you dont see Lote or Utai doing that, do you?
Quick spread out the backs and wheres the winger?
Hanging round with farah...doesnt work :bash

Doesn't anyone here see the issues Tigers are having Mackinnon makes a break and there is no support and Ink I don't expect Moltzen to be standing around in centre of field when we are in opposition 20\. In the first three tackles of set though you could even have 1 left 1 right if you want we create so many offloads and they are wasted because none of the 2nd phase is hitting ball at speed Seriously
