Robbie Farah Dart Out Fast from Dummy Half

We need to get out from dummy half faster, and steal meters from the ruck, putting the opposition on the back foot. And only then we can start playing our tricky set plays.

This all starts with Robbie Farah, he used to dart out faster, and make breaks up the middle, but now he does not do that at all anymore. Which is a huge reason why our forwards get pushed back, and we drop balls going sideways under pressure.

Robbie, Start darting out like a hooker should!

Because teams are allowed to be semi split at marker and never get pinged when he catches them out.

Start penalising it and more room is created

Other teams seem to be getting away with it though. Stealing alot of meters on quick play the balls up the middle. Especially against us always. Hookers like Isaac Luke and others, always tears teams apart with quick smart runs.

More experienced forwards who get quick PTB.

Moors did this for us on Friday.

Woods, Groat & BMM are concentrating to make sure no drops are made at the PTB. Its a smart move and their speed will pick up.

Watch how many times hookers catch offside players and see how many times they get penalised and compare it to Farah and how few times the penalty gets blown in our favour.

I understand that our forwards have to get on a quick play the ball, but even when we do get a quick play the ball, Farah doesnt pick that right time to make that run, instead he is trying to go side ways and ball play too much.

I dont want to bag Farah, but like for the first half of last year he seems well off the pace, we all know last year he had groin problems and this year he is coming off surgery but when Farah is on song we very seldom loose. I think he will be back to his best soon but if he isnt we are in heaps of trouble. One last thing both him and marshall have to be a lot smarter in their attacking play options on early tackles. Some of their early kicks deep on attack were woeful.

One of the problems is that Robbie probably overplays trying to catch the markers out all the time and may have burnt himself with some of the more experienced refs

I actually think the Robbie drifting across the field can be more dangerous at times it can drag someone out of the line and we can attempt to exploit that

But if we are looking for good go forward I prefer Robbie going forward and then offloading it makes the our forwards get to the advantage line faster and helps them to make sure they are hitting the line with speed and momentum which in theory should help with faster play the balls ,more ground made, possibly offloads and line breaks .

I just noticed farah lead the tackle count this week so far. Tough to make so many tackles and dart from dummy half. Was he targetted in defence maybe ?

For sure, i also love Robbie Farah drifting across field, and creating overlaps, he is great at that. Just need to get that go forward moving first, and get the opposition on the back foot. Then we are lethal!

Yeah your probably right, he is taking on a lot of responsibilities across the field, including defense, kicking n ball playing.

Manly spent at least a third of the time trying to get a one on one with Farah and Williams Farah himself admitted that on the Footy Show

It is one reason sometimes I think that he would be better not as captain , he tries to take on too much on at times which affects his attack and his decision making through mental and phsyical weariness .

Its because he stops, he makes it obvious he's after the penalty, if he kept fighting in the tackle and trying to make ground imo he'd be more succesful

issac luke use to do make yards from dummy half also and has stopped and so has smith….not seeing it much at all from any hooker...it still happens but no where near as often as a few years back

This came up last year when it was pointed out that he wasn't getting the penalties from dummy half that he used to. The refs weren't awarding penalties any longer and he adjusted his play accordingly.

100% correct…
he never seems to draw the penalty when it probably should be given...
refs are driving me mad this year...
