Robbie Farah..Discussion Thread.....

Which is why I suggested that the ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM could be racism. When watching in the club I noticed it when Broncos were playing WT - the Bronco fans were saying shockingly rude things about Farah. If it was live at the ground there would have been fisticuffs.

Huh…What year was this...Farah was out injured against the Broncos this year...Halatau was captain Cherry of the bench...I find it odd at a Club they would abuse a player not even playing...then again they are Bronco supporters...

I think the fact that no other NRL club wants to offer Robbie a contract even near minimum wage speaks volumes and I don't think it has anything to do with racism.

I don't think it does and who cares. The guy has been great for us. He is the SOO hooker and performs pretty well in that arena. He is definitely a quality player.

I do think that he is at the end of his career and the 4 year contract was crazy however there is no reason why he can't have a real solid final 2 years in the NRL.

That's right. Robbie can play to the best of his ability and show how much he offers.
Regardless of who he plays for.
Be remembered as a player, who was told his services no longer required, showed great dignity, got on with it and overcame any obstacles in his way.

Or not.
His choice.

Sorry about that mistake, it must have been the SOO that I was watching in the Byron Bay Club.

In today's Sun Herald Danny Weidler and Benny Elias are heavily backing Farah in the club kerfuffle, Elias saying it terrible for the Club plus other criticisms. But Elias also states it is best if Farah does depart considering the hostile circumstances.

Have we offered him a straight pay out? We should to be fair with a claw back clause if he play rugby league elsewhere.

I also find that really interesting. A player of his supposed statue and not one club in the NRL is interested in signing him. It could be a case of clubs thinking the longer this situation goes, the cheaper they will get Farah.

But it certainly is not a good look for a player who obviously values himself very highly.

Its a real shame that the whole thing has become such a low down affair for all parties concerned.

Well said CGT'. Why would we want the players they don't want? It is the type of small time thinking that will keep us at the bottom of the table.

I would take Farrell, would slot straight into our back line.

need to buy a lottery ticket them Milky.
thats the sort of luck that we would need to get Frizelle, even is The Dragons wanted to offload him.

There are no winners and the longer it goes on the worse it becomes for both parties.

If that was the situation, then that would just be getting another two players that another club thinks aren't worth keeping. Welcome back to the bargain basement again

Well they would be getting 1 player that another club thinks isn't worth keeping in Robbie so we would be getting 2 players for the price of 1 - Bargain

"What he brings to the club off the field is hard to quantify. He is a role model and takes the weight of that in his stride, he is a great ambassador, he is inspiring to be around, he loves the game, loves the fans, he's at ease with people and is generous with his time, he sets a tone in the dressing rooms that others respond to, there is a genuine core quality to Sam that engenders belief. He is playing the game to win and that is never in doubt. It's a tremendous day for our club that he is returning."

These are the reasons Souths talked about for re-signing of Sam Burgess

Does anyone even Robbie's biggest supporters imagine anyone ever talking about Robbie in the same words ? Robbie may have had it on the field in the past but to be worth what he is getting paid then he needs to have this influence off the field and I'm sure no one has ever believed that is what he brings

^^^^ He means Dylan Farrell..the Centre not Frizell…

Was thinking about this no Club thing with Robbie ....one of the stumbling blocks initially was him stating that he doesn't to leave Sydney so that ruled out the 2 likely Clubs to take him Knights and the Titans who both had money to spend and are weak in his position...

Now if you look at the Sydney Clubs..St George that have been strongly linked rumour wise have Rein and signed McCrone....Penrith have Segeyaro...Parra have Peats and committed a lot in Foran...Cronulla have Ennis who seems to suit there style of play... Dogs Lichaa...Roosters Friend ..Manly have unknowns in Parcell and Korisau but have also committed big in Myles DCE n Taupau...Souff's gave McInnes and Cook and sold the movie rights to get back the good Burghi....it could we be that no Club is interested cause they are happy with what the have....

Could not agree more…Current state of origin hooker and no bids on the table at minimum wage? Hes a coach killer and every coach knows it. If we did side with Robbie and sacked taylor we would never be able to bring any decent players or coach while he is there... I have seen enough of robbie, he has been a wonderful player but its time he moved on... One player does not make a club....

Eddie:
The players like Lawrence, Galloway, Moltzen, Halatau people had high expectations for. They were not dud players as youngsters. They were players we wanted to build a successful team around.

My argument is they have had careers where they did not achieve their potential. I have the upmost respect for Farah because he played at an elite level for years at our club and achieved consistent rep football.

The reasons coaches get sacked is because of losing games in the end. The reason we lost games is because he had a number of players that failed to deliver over a number of years. Senior players.

I just don't like seeing a captain who spend a huge part of his time playing really well for us treated like a mug by the fans. Whilst others are darlings who they now want captain when in the last 5-6 years they have done next to nothing.

Thats my opinion.

Byron Bay Fan: The possible racism claim was not against other clubs not enlisting him but posters on this forum bad mouthing him. When considering Eddie's post repeated above I wonder why they bad mouth him and prefer others?

Did Arthur Beetson always earn his money? If Robbie is not performing at tops it is because of injury and or age, whereas other players would take it easy occasionally but not cop the poop that Farah is copping.

That post belongs to Eddie…...Happy don't use them big words n stuff...

Corrected in terms of fairness and accuracy...

I don't believe anyone on here would use race as a shot at Farah...

Yep - specialist hookers like Farah as much as the haters wont admit it have less opportunity to be picked up because of that very reason they play only one position and when Farah became available most had their hookers for next season in place. Farah also made it clear that he had a contract and wasnt going anywhere - which certainly didnt encourage interest. Most players regardless of who they are - usually dont have any more then two clubs chasing them at any given time anyway.Have been reading what a wonderful signing Ballin is all week, great player, would have played SOO if not for Cameron Smith, top bloke and role model yadha yadha - he has been on the market for months even before Farah - why didnt he get picked up by another club, where was the interest in him??? We threw Ballin a lifeline and he grabbed it with both hands. If Farah wanted out every likelihood he would be already signed with Newcastle or StGeorge however he chose to stay - for the time being anyway.

Daniel fitzhenry and Tim Moltzen copped it. Both 'whities'

I have not followed their cases, but if they did maybe they deserved it whereas Happy Tiger's posts suggests that Farah did not deserve it.
