The barrister acting for Wests Tigers hooker Robbie Farah has called on club powerbrokers to attend a meeting this week to formally detail why Farah is no longer wanted at the club.

Barrister Julieanne Levick called the meeting on the grounds of procedural fairness, because despite immense speculation concerning the reason behind coach Jason Taylor's controversial decision all he has been told by the club is he will play out his time in the Wests Tigers reserve grade should he remain.

Fairfax Media understands Farah was still waiting to be told the reasons behind the grievance from the mouths of those who want him out.

It was said the meeting – to be attended by Taylor, club chair Marina Go and acting chief executive Phil Moss – would, at the very least, be "therapeutic" for Farah, who has indicated on numerous occasions he planned to dig his heels in and stay.

The NSW Origin star wants to understand the reason behind the beef Taylor obviously has with him but there was also a desire to hear exactly what was said by the club's powerbrokers in the lead-up to the decision.

A source said Farah wanted to be told not only the reasons but to also have the chance to respond without fear of having his contract terminated.

Any public comment about Taylor or the board could see his deal torn up for bringing the club into disrepute.

While Farah appeared on The Footy Show on Thursday night, he was advised to be careful of every word he uttered.

Since the news broke that the Wests Tigers wanted him to leave despite having a two-year-deal worth the better part of $2 million, speculation suggested Farah was viewed as a divisive force.

His supporters have offered a counter-point, hailing the club's longest-serving player as an inspirational leader who had formed part of the fabric at the club. Farah said he had a tear in his eyes during the big win over the New Zealand Warriors last weekend when fans chanted his name as a sign of support.

It is understood that the club's major sponsor Harry Triguboff has arranged to meet with NRL boss Dave Smith during the week to implore for the code's boss to intervene.

The official line Go offered Fairfax Media was to say the Wests Tigers wanted to develop a "winning culture".

"What we've been trying to do for the past year is rebuild a club around a winning culture because culture drives performance," Go said last week as she offered Taylor the board's support.

Asked at the time if Farah didn't fit the culture the club was trying to foster, Go said: "You'd have to say in the scheme of the big picture and what we need to build for the future, there's a sentiment that no, he doesn't."

Levick is acting for Parramatta centre William Hopoate in his NSW Supreme Court battle over a contract issue with the Eels and she's had injured forward Richie Fa'aoso referred to her as he prepares to take action against the Eels for failing to pay for his million-dollar Permanent Total Disablement [PTD] insurance policy when he returned to the NRL from a broken neck.

While NSW coach Laurie Daley said he was prepared to pick Farah from the second-tier NSW Cup to play in next year's Origin series if necessary, Farah is understood to have been advised by those close to him the reality of playing in a competition which lacks the skills and intensity of the NRL, would make it all but impossible for Daley to select him.

No, he would have been told, but he wants his barrister to hear/witness the specifics of Wests' position.

First steps down the path to settlement.

Quote here from Graeme Pringle on facebook -" you need to know two things. CEOs are not on a club's board. And secondly, you talk about a board salary cap. Well mate, board members are not paid a single cent to do a very tough job. Not a cent, buddy. Repeat after me, the CEO runs the club, the board looks after the governance. The board did NOT make the decision to offload Farah. This was decided by the whole coaching staff, not just one person. The board promised Jason Taylor full control over who plays for the club and they're sticking to that promise, as difficult as it has been lately. In the past we've had weak-as-piss boards and that's why the club has been in a mess. This board is strong, they are about to announce our biggest ever sponsorship today and, I repeat so you get it Daniel, they are not paid a cent for all their efforts."

For those wondering what some guy called Graeme Pringle would know about it - He is Marina Go's partner

Found it NT

Thanks Ink, Better late than never.
Not a good look is it?

It's funny how the media are eating this up. They're being used as the biggest tools in Farrah's pr campaign and they just keep milking the story for more. I guess what ever sells papers. But honestly farah needs his barrister to hear why he is being let go. I don't think iv ever heard of anything like this before. Wow. This bloke has been given the tap on the shoulder there's no need to know why, he is getting paid out so there should be no issue just find another club. Sorry I forgot no one else wants him I wonder why. I'll give Robbie a hint why the club are letting him go it's because he feels the need to call a barrister to hear the reasons why he has been tapped in the shoulder. What a grade A sook. He has been strangling this club for far too long. Everyone knows he is responsible for sheens and potter, even if they were or weren't any good it's not Robbie's job to do or say anything. Robbie one word for you KARMA. Now go take some cement and harden up you sook.

Spot on,"liltiger'" .. and its not like they are not going to pay him. Once he goes we can go forward.

Realistically,if RFs barrister calls a meeting with the clubs officialdom to sort this mess out,why let the media know anything at all about it ….have a meeting and place all the cards on the table and thrash it out amongst yourselves, find a resolution to the issue...this now to me makes it look like RF has been made look like "poor little me" I want everyone to know how badly I have been treated, until we know all the facts I honestly don't know how badly he has been treated....I guess we will have to wait...the truth will come out....

Wouldn't Robbie have taken legal representation when the first meeting was held

It wasn't as if the club was blind siding him by this stage , both he and Ayoub knew exactly what was going on

This drama is just like me every Monday.
I think, geez another week of work.
Then Monday's over
Tuesday's gone
It's hump day
Thursday's dusted
It's Friday!

There'll be something else next week and the week after but the day's just drift by.

This will drift by, in time

Truer words, have never been spoken CQ! :ugeek:

How embarrassing.
Just pay this child out so we can move on and forget this era of boys clubs and playing with my mates culture.

the most telling part of this was the way it was released a few hours before farah went on the footy show. Then on the footy show they made a big thing about "robbie can;t say too much because of legal reasons". Blatant PR school tactics.

He's going to get his cash regardless, and if he doesn;t want to go anywhere else it's the coaches right to play him in reserve grade. There is absolutely zero legal involvement in this apart from PR/ playing the poor poor pitiful me card. And that sympathy card is farah's entire strategy in this. 'Make it play out in the media so everyone feels sorry for me".

It's not going to work and, is quite simply, making it obvious just how self serving the tactic is.

I have always been a big fan of his and thought he had been hard done by when the news first came out. But the way he has carried on since makes it pretty obvious to me why he needs to go.

Unfortunately it also means that no club is likely to want him. Can you imagine how quickly every other club would have moved heaven and earth to make an offer if smith, JWH, thurston, Tedesco, S.Burgess, Folau or players like that came on the market? Farah is NSW SoO captain and no club has really tried for him. Very telling.

I thought we had moved on from all this after Marshall left, but no. As much as I've called for Farah to move over the last week and a half, I am feeling a lot of sadness atm as it seems to be sinking in. You don't just let someone as valuable as he's been go without it affecting you somehow. But it's things like this why he needs to go. Robbie being Robbie to the bitter end. No more boys club, how liberating will that be.

Whilst I know its very late in the season and probably not totally the clubs fault it came out this late (Thanks Sam Ayoub who has escaped all blame), I cant help thinking why don't other clubs want to jump in and grab this guy?

Is it for the same reason the club has asked him to look elsewhere?

Mmmmm….

It's very suss. I did read the other day that clubs were obliged to pay him significant money through being an Origin player. They just can't pay him 100-200K because of what we're paying him because it would be way under his market value. Which is fair enough I think, because a club shouldn't be able to pick a player like him up for virtually nothing. That's probably why there's no takers as everyone would have their roster settled and wouldn't have a spare 400-500k. The only side that might have would have been Souths, but they've already ruled themselves out. Probably keeping that 500k for when Burgess quits Rugby.
