Robbie Farah offered a contract ??

I'm a little concerned that the longer we wait to tie Robbie up the more likely Parra are to up their offer - so far every marquee player has shunned them which will probably lead them to offering more money to the fewer marquee players that will be avaialable.
 
Its not going to help that Matt Scott re-signed with the Cowboys this morning. Thats 650K a season they have up their sleeve for someone else, and i wonder who that could be
 
There should/ would be more to it then just raw $$$ but I get we are talking big numbers here… If we are close to the biggest offer (reportedly parra) then we must be a chance.. Robbie deserves everything and more but hopefully the one club player aspect and deep passion for The tigers counts for a lot as well.

I'm sure often big name players shun bigger offers to remain at current club, robbie isna club legend already but still unfinished business...we have to hope Robbie is happy with new direction of the club and financially it's still close or the same as highest bidder then we must be in with a chance .

Maybe not,Robbie might see all these players spurning the Eels,and realise no big names will join him there,we can only hope.
 
How much would Parras offer to Robbie be? I think we are going to have to pay a motza to keep him, as Parra will be desperate to sign him. The sooner we sign him the better, but he could be waiting to see who we sign for next year as well.

You would hope so. If he was going to be their only major signing you would think that would be enough of a deterrent to stay away and remain a one club man
 
I would think he is a far more valuable commodity staying put in that he is a centrepiece of a well covered team (FTA TV we were huge winners in this years allocation) and his long serving player allowance (non cap considered money)and established third party deals means it makes sense.

If he is happy on the field and we can get in the ball park $$ wise I believe he stays
 
30yo next season. This contract will be his last.
3 things I think he would be weighing up:

1) Take the biggest $$ offer there is and cash in while you can.
2) Go out with a premiership; which team is offering the best deal AND has a chance of winning the comp in the next 2-4 years?
3) Life after footy; where is my future and which club can offer me an opportunity after I hang up my boots?

Said that weeks ago, a player like Farah could command mega bucks from us or any other club after a no9, what he will be looking for is a career path after football and being smarter than a lot of other footballers that should not be a problem
 
Who's to say he wants anything to do with footy when he finishes playing?
He's already shown he has a head for business

He's seen a lot of his team mates pushed out when it suited the club

Anyway, whatever he decides, life will go on and he'll be up theire with other respect ex players
 
I hope Robbie sticks with us and I don't think that he will ever regret it if he does. He always reminds me of a Freddy Jones type of player…. very loyal to his club. But you have to look after yourself when the big bucks are for the taking. You will notice that I never say the word MAN.. saying it makes me sick. Just as Freddy was first picked hooker for Australia during his reign so would Robbie have been during his....except, he is behind probably the best hooker I have ever seen in Cam. He already has IMO won the ultimate prize which is a premiership ring. Whatever happens....Good Luck Robbie.
 
Lets face it, one club players are more marketable when they retire. It's a big decision for Farah, even if we cant match other competitors offers, he does need to remember that his stocks will dimish more if hasn't a one club player.

But a one club player, retired captain of the mighty tigers, it will be a honour and big positive in his life.
 
The CLUB wants more members, wants us to renew our memberships but can't sign our captain up!!!. A vote of no confidence. True to my word I will renew when and if Robbies signature is on the doted line.

Nobody is saying the job has to be with a football club, it could and probably would be something more aligned with his tertiary qualifications and that could come through help from the club through all their commercial partners and sponsorships. Or it may be in the way of helping him in venture. Who knows, but one thing is for sure, most players when signing their last contract are looking at life after football,especially the ones who have some clout–ask Thurston
 
You have to ask would you think Robbie Farah will go parra when they cant even sign any of the big names they missed out on Greg Bird Matt Scott and James Tamou he must be watching they cant recruit top profile players. But anyways i have no doubt Robbie Farah will stay a tiger for life.
 
I 100% agree with tigersrule4life…IF Robbie Farah leaves the Tigers it wont be to the lowly placed Eels...no matter how much $$$ the throw at him. The Eels have failed in their bids to recruit 4 tops line players since Stuart became coach...so why would Farah join them...he's way to smart to just follow the coin....providing the Tigers stump up some decent coin Farah will most likely sign with us again.

It's an interesting scenario about Parra's recruitment, but Robbie will only be leaving the Tigers for 1 thing and that is more money.

On that note, you couldnt rule them out.

So if they finish 10th this year, and we finish 13th…..or at round 9 when he decides to make a decision if theyre above us on the ladder....then what

They were lowly last year, who knows where they & us will be this year.

I dont think now will come into it, clubs will be pitching their future plans when trying to recruit

Just because theyve missed all these big names, if they keep going afer them they will get one eventually....unlike us who play it safe and never go after marquee signings :unamused:

You don't know that, your talking with your heart not your head. The fact they have missed out on 4 big names just makes them even more desperate now and that means they'll most likely throw even more cash at the next guy cos they'll want to land someone. Its very romantic to have this belief that he could never want to leave and he'll be here for life cos we are supporters, we are emotionally invested, we don't get offers of hundreds of thousands of dollars a yr to follow another team. For players its their lively hood and if the offer is big enough it will always have a say. Don't be foolish enough to think he won't go anywhere cos like i've said a lot times, im sure there was a time when Penrith fans would have thought the idea of their captain walking was outrageous.
