Robbie Farah

I think Smith is a better and more consistent player purely because he usually takes the right option.

However, if anyone thinks Smith would be as effective as he is for MEL behind our pack of powderpuffs, they have rocks in their heads.

I agree that Farah does need to improve his decisions and his form has been down since Origin last year but I will back him as he has carried us on his back for a long, long time.

The Melbourne pack is no better or worse than ours

Its just coached some much more better

We have their defensive coach , fingers crossed

Been close to a one man band for a few years now so its been second nature to him to be heavily involved in everything.

Its now time to delegate and I think you will find he will be more than happy to let Brooks make a lot of the calls.

Anyway its now up to Potter to get the chemistry right

This more or less is how I see things.

Farah needs to take a backseat this year and let Brooks dictate play. I feel he will become a much more effective player when he is not involved in everything. He has been targeted far more in recent years because the team does lean on him due to lack of quality halves.

He was down on form last year, but as you said he has carried this team for years so it's only fair we back him while he tries to re-establish himself.
 
Oh great. Marshall's gone so now it's Farah's turn in the firing line. This season should be a lot of fun.
 
Farah has always had those faults in his game. But he should be accountable, for too long R&B answered to no one. If Robbie takes too many wrong options and stifles Brookes like he did Miller then he should rightly be in the firing line.

And like Benji, Robbie needs to understand that sometimes less can be more.

No argument there , but if making him not captain improved his performance you have to seriously think about it
 
Taking the © from him would see a seriousl sulk....He has a good one in him

He should not be above citicizm

Dont see any issues with him being captain, I think he is our best option by a country mile and I think given the way the team has fired over the past two years he has done a great job.

I just think we have to spread his load a little, as the other teams know at present you stop Farah and the Tigers come to a screaming halt. As I said previously, with the forwards beefed up this year things could change (fingers crossed)

Actually SC going to disagree on this one ,the last two seasons it has been about sticking a solid line in front of Marshall and watch him disintegrate

Robbie got frustrated with Marshall's refusal to play direct , run the ball and take the line on and took low percentage options as a consequence

We know this will be different in 2014 ,Robbie just needs to stay patient and let Brooks run the show

If Rowdy is back to his best as we are being led to believe , we have a captain right here

If the Lawrence stories are correct , the captaincy needs to be passed on at some stage why not now so Robbie can still give good guidance to him

If Robbie has the Tigers best interests at heart ,this shouldn't be a problem
 
I dont know Happy, I think we put far to much importance on the captains role in the NRL, most calls they make are no brainers and the coach is usually barking out the calls via his runners. Its not like cricket where the captain actually dictates tactics, although that is changing now with the army of coaches that most teams employ.

Most NRL teams are directed by a leadership group and not just one person. Anyway will probably get howled down, but I just dont see the big C next your name as a big deal

On field's not a big issue ,but off field is

If it takes some pressure off Robbie to perform to his best week in week out it's worth it

We can't make the 8 without Farah at his best imo, that's why it is crucial
 
When I think of how Robbie should play I think of the way he played for NSW during Origin. Simple & straight with a focus on defence around the middle of the ruck and a few last tackle kicks from dummy half when the opposition is on the back foot and is in a good field position for a left foot kick. If our forwards are able to do their job this year in D&A and he allows whoever is 1/2 and 5/8 to run the show then there should be no reason for Robbie to overplay his hand.
 
I can't believe some of the criticism of Farah. The worst thing anyone can really say of him is that he often overplays his hand…..ONLY when the halfback is stuffing around like an idiot and not keeping up with the pace of the game.
With a genuine halfback, we will see the best out of Farah, particularly in the way he will organize the forwards and his mammoth defensive efforts. The rest of the game can be left to our halves.

I agree hybrid, 100%.

People are measuring Farah against Cam Smith, who is certainly the greatest hooker since the turn of the century. But Smith has also played in consistently excellent teams his whole career, with consistently class performers (particularly in the spine).

Robbie Farah has played in 9 finals games and 8 Origin games in his entire career. That is just 3 years work for Cam Smith, so no wonder he is able to play a more controlled and modest hand. Certainly Robbie can struggle in clutch moments of big games, but that is the Tigers, I haven't seen a cool hand at the club since Brett Hodgson.

Benji's been hooked, the forum was calling for it, and now they are calling for Farah to play a more understated hand with a potential halves and fullback combination of, what, 30 first-grade games?

The bloke is first picked every week and should continue to be that until the end of his fine career.
 
But then again it's true that you can only play as good as the team you have around you , Cam Smith has had the luxury of that no doubt .
2010 and 2011 I recall a lot of dumb plays Farrah and Benji did and that's when we had a gun side , Cam Smith is more controlled hooker but Farrah last year has had to do a lot of decisions himself cause of a lack of swapping and changing with our halves being injury wise or lack of experience .
But his loyalty to the club can never be questioned .
 
Can remember when Farah played behind

Ellis ,Gallaway ,Payten ,Gibbs ,Dwyer and Fifita

Not a bad pack

And he still took his fair share of wrong options

Smith is a better hooker full stop
 
You never ever describe Cameron Smith as overplaying his hand, or having a bad game.

They are two things that come up in a Robbie Farah conversation.

That alone puts Cam Smith ahead of Farah.
