lol can't believe some want him to retire as of now, what happens if Liddle gets injured? Next year he won't be here if i was Madge id give him a game or 2 off to freshen up.

Absolutely and if we can actually make it to the finals he needs to be there.

James Tedesco would be a Canberra Raider if it wasn’t for Robbie Farah, and the Sydney Roosters star says he will always be indebted to the Tigers veteran.

Flash back to 2014 and Tedesco had agreed to a $1.8 million three-year contract with the Raiders before Farah convinced him to renege.

On the back of Robbie’s influential words, ‘Teddy’ spent another three seasons at the Wests Tigers before linking with the Roosters on a big-dollar deal in 2017.

Today, Tedesco is firmly entrenched at the Tricolours in his second season after winning the premiership in his maiden year at the club.

The Blues and Kangaroos flyer loves the Roosters but he knows his rugby league life could be different if it wasn’t for Farah.

“Robbie knew I’d play my best footy at the Tigers compared to down in Canberra,” Tedesco recalls about Farah, who labelled the Roosters fullback the “next Billy Slater” when he was coming through the ranks at the Tigers.

“He knew with him, Mitch (Moses) and Luke Brooks that we a great spine, which is funny because things changed a year later.

“But at the time Robbie was really adamant and he knew that I had a lot to offer and he could help my game and I could help his game.

“He let me know that and with Robbie and other influences at the Tigers I wasn’t comfortable leaving.

“I left the Roosters a few years later but that is just how footy is I guess.

“You never know what is going to happen and you just have to enjoy it as it is.”

Tedesco’s mindset around the fleeting nature of rugby league is fitting given Farah’s retirement news this week.

The Tigers fan favourite called time on his stellar career on Tuesday following almost 17 seasons in the NRL.

Tedesco has a close connection with Farah from his five seasons at the Tigers, although he had no idea his mate had announced he will hung up the boots at season’s end until told by The Daily Telegraph.

“Oh has he? Oh really? - I didn’t know that,” he said.

“It was awesome to see Robbie and Benji play their 300th games in the last few weeks.

“They’ve done so much for the club. I thought Robbie and Benji were going for another year.

“But Robbie has had an amazing career. He has played 300 games, a lot for Origin and Australia as well.

“It is a pretty sad day to see Robbie retire from the Tigers but he has had an awesome career and I can’t congratulate him enough.”

Tedesco credits the influence of Farah and Marshall for helping him become the polished product that many rate the best on the planet.

“I remember training with guys like Robbie and Benji and being a bit star struck and quiet but they made me feel comfortable,” he said.

“I can’t thank them enough for how they were with me as a young guy coming through the grades.”

Shut up teddy. Robbie is an example of someone that was committed to the club and willing to sacrifice.

You are a proven dirtbag who was willing to put their own financial gain ahead of anything. You might have twice the skill set of Farah , but don’t have 1 % of the loyalty

COMMENTS

Cram it with walnuts ugly.

Haha yeah love the anti-Tedesco backlash. What a bonehead, why is anyone interviewing him on his opinion in relation to a Tigers matter? Souths can comment, Tigers can comment; Roosters get stuffed.

"Oh if not for Robbie I would have been playing for the Raiders, so lucky he convinced me to renege, but I left at the next available opportunity anyway, so really all he did was delay the inevitable and we didn't even make the finals when I stayed anyway".

In hindsight I would rather he left for the Raiders when he planned to, because they need players like him and it would have made Wests' position easier to have his money become available in 2014. Instead we went all-in with Tedesco and he left anyway; he also left late, at such a time that we'd already released his junior understudy (Paps) and had no strong candidate to replace him.

Things for Tigers would have turned out very differently if Tedesco left in 2014 and not necessarily for the worse.

that's a fair point....he would've gone to canberra, we would've kept Pap and probably had him playing a lot of first grade by now....salary cap would've been differently managed....

So full of himself he didn't even know his mate had retired.

Anyone who thinks he is "doing a LeBron" needs their head checked.

**Wests Tigers back Liddle to replace Farah**

By AAP

The Wests Tigers will put their faith in Jacob Liddle and Queensland under-18s young gun Jake Simpkin instead of heading to the open market to replace retiring Robbie Farah.
Coach Michael Maguire described Simpkin as the one of the "up-and-coming great hookers" of the game as the joint venture turn to the future after Farah on Tuesday announced he would retire at the end of the year.

Considered one of the best young dummy-halves in the country, Simpkin will move to Sydney next year and is viewed as a long-term project by the Tigers.
He played No.9 in Queensland's under-18 Origin win over NSW earlier in the year and has made a name for himself in the Mal Menigna Cup this year.
Liddle has been earmarked as the Tigers' next No.9 for several years but has been restricted to 37 appearances since making his debut in 2016.
The 22-year-old underwent double shoulder surgery at the end of 2017 and returned midway through last year and Maguire said he was just now getting back to his best.
"At the moment we've got Jacob Liddle and I'm really impressed with how he's developing," Maguire said.
"Unfortunately he's spent a couple of years on the sideline through injury.

"So this year is probably the first year he's been able to sit in behind Rob.
"To Rob's credit, he's helped someone like Liddle, I saw him do that as his previous club with Damien Cook. Having Robbie around in some capacity will help us in that No.9.
"We've got a young up-and-comer from Queensland (Simpkin) who's the up-and-coming great hooker from the under-18 level. We'll develop from within."

Jumping the gun a bit early there Cultured B, have a little faith in Madge his definitely not the type of Coach that would ruin the confidence of a young player by throwing him to the wolves to early unless Simpkin’s proves other wise...Fingers crossed for us Simpkin’s does.

We're going to cook this poor Simpkin kid. Give him time to develop before throwing him to the wolves.

We don't over cook players

He'll just become better than Cam Smith by Rd 1 2020 and when he misses that mark the forum will devour him

@happy_tiger or we let him go to Chooks for a bag of chips , either way we will come out smelling like chicken💩 and the🐔 literally like My. Roses for the missus lol
