AHX,Robbie is a great captain and player,he got injured at a vital time of the game on Weds..

He did not lose the game he fought for the win with his passion and aggression…if anyone is to blame for the loss it is the halves lack of communication in such a high level game...

I think Robbie is a very passionate man. He admits he plays with his heart on his sleeve. That is sometimes good and at times a poor attribute for a leader. He has carried this club at times and deserves respect for that alone.

I also think he shouldn't be blamed for Wednesday. He is the dummy half not the playmaker. I don't believe Hodgkinson demanded the ball as a good half back should in that scenario. I don't think Robbie would have ignored him, he just didn't get the call and went to the next option. As for his toughness and bravery, 50 tackles with a bung AC joint says it all - if you've ever done one you'd know how much he is to be admired.

I think its a fact that he passed the ball to Dugan when he shouldn't have. I suppose its an opinion that he is a good player and captain.

INAUGURAL State of Origin captain Tommy Raudonikis has slammed Robbie Farah as a poor leader who should never captain again.

Raudonikis, who coached the Blues to a series win in 1997, said Farah’s leadership cost New South Wales.

“We were poorly led and deserved to lose the game,” he told The Courier-Mail. “It was bad captaincy.

“Robbie Farah is not a good a leader.

“We had a chance to win and blew it badly. I hope Gal comes back. The sets at the end were poor.

“There’s another two games, but it doesn’t look promising.

“We need to make some positional changes. Josh Reynolds would be worth bringing back.

“However, it is hard to even find a halfback at the moment.

“I would drop Fifita, he was hopeless.”

Under siege halfback Trent Hodkinson says he was left stranded by teammates, who twice failed to get him the ball when he was in position to launch a field goal.

Farah, at dummy-half, instead flung the ball to fullback Josh Dugan, who missed with his attempt to tie the game.

“Yeah, I was ready to go with Duges on my inside,” Hodkinson said.

“But Faff (Farah), he sort of just flung it out and unfortunately it hit Duges.

“He had a good crack though, almost got it.

“I would’ve loved a shot but … unfortunately things got a little bit tangled up.”

Injured Blues captain Paul Gallen said he was “shocked” by the lack of game time bench forward Trent Merrin had.

Merrin played just 22 minutes.

“Honestly I was shocked at Merrin’s minutes tonight,” Gallen told Triple M.

“I didn’t speak to Mez (Merrin) about his role but I thought he would have played in the first half for sure. I’m shocked.

“Certainly the inexperience shone through in that last seven minutes.”

Former NSW coach Phil Gould said the Blues “blew it” in a Fairfax media video.

“The biggest part about it is we don’t have a boss on the field. We don’t have a leader demanding the ball and demanding the direction. It seems like it’s all being done from dummy half and that’s not the place to have your direction.

“They have to work out the leadership issue in the team. It’s not who the captain is — it’s about who’s responsible for running the show and he’s got to get the ball when he needs it. The problem is (Hodkinson) probably doesn’t even do it in his club side.”

Hodkinson was ib the wrong position ...he should have been where Dugan was not 5m to the left,,,Robbie had no option the high shot clearly shows this...

You could argue that it was the failure to find touch from the penalty that cost us the game, It resulted in Queensland dominating for the remainder. Dugans field goal attempt was to level the game, dosnt win it for us anyway so why people are suggesting that it lost the game for us is a bit premature. Ten extra minutes against QLD anything could have happened. Based on what we saw on Wed night there is nothing between those two teams. If NSW are silly enough to implode after that loss the QLDs will be giggling all the way to the next one. As for Farah's captaincy - really not sure. That's one for the players to answer.

The point was Robbie played the house down despite the injury. His captaincy was good as well.
IT IS UP TO THE PLAYER THAT IS KICKING THE FIELD GOAL TO GET INTO POSITION AND CALL FOR THE BALL. Didn't happen, so Dugan got the ball. But lets blame Robbie.

He kicked out on the full, he morphed into Tupou, Hopoate and Jennings in the backs and was pathetic. He also helped with Fifita's and Cordner's ineptitude. Maybe if those 5 players had a dig it may not have got to a one point scenario.

It is the playmakers fault the one point didn't happen - not the captain.

Agreed.You could throw Aaron Woods into that equation of great player but poor captaincy credentials. They just don't have that bird or Gallen grub/mongrel in them which is paramount in all the great leaders we see.

Hodkinson did put himself into position twice, thats a fact. He was ready twice, also fact. The other fact is that twice instead of bringing the ball back into the middle of the park to set for a FG, we played to the right hand side both times.

What do you expect, to call a time out and get in a huddle to organise it? That at that level, they didnt know it was the option? Hodkinson did…

I wont say that Robbie, Pierce and Hodkinson lost us the game, they didnt. What I will say is that the cream rises to the top, they win the big games.

We lost. Though I also bet anyone that they guaranteed when Qld got down our end they were going to pot the FG, or at least set it correctly. So what is the difference?
