Robbie is our Captain - Show Him Some Respect

If Tallis had kept his mouth shut and showed some respect regarding a 15 month old personal discussion all this would not have been blown out of proportion.

Stick to comedy. Why bring Gaza and those poor people, majority of whom are civilians, into a discussion about Rugby League? Oh wait, of course that's logical. We are talking about an Australian of Lebanese descent, so of course, Palestine has everything to do with Robbie Farah! But, your comments aren't racially motivated, there's just some other epheremal link that only you can see.

If you are indicative of Australian Culture…

Can we at least pretend to talk about footy peeps?

Fair enough.

But, someone wearing a tinfoil hat and warming themselves in a burning Australian flag suggested
That RF has had less of a career because of where his parents were born…just think on that for a sec.

Imagine if a sporting group actually cared that much. I can guarantee that if there is a gay albino Eskimo who can play number 9 better than everyone else he will get picked. Look at lui, that low life drop punted his missus AND still gets to play because he's good. If you can win games you can make the team popular you can make the team more $$$$. It's a business and only a bitter nutcase would think that race has anything to do with team selections.

Obviously I'm off to polish my " f##k off, we're full" sticker on my ute.

Heaven forbid I talk football, but my personal view is RF hasn't got the credit smith has because at times in his career he has gone the wrong option at crunch plays.

Even with that shortcoming he is head and shoulders our best, and essentially I agree the fans should back him as a tigers player - not a KKK member, Nazi, Born Again or anything else he may or may not be.

Agree with you about the Lui example too, and appreciate the considered response.

Tigerbalm i honestly respect your opinion and understand where your coming from but im not sterotyping anglosaxan australians or their culture one bit im just talking from personal experience. You might not see it because you don't have to deal with it but we do because were unfairly dealing with it from time to time. I recently travelled to Perisher for a ski trip and deadset couldn't go anywhere without being stared at and spoken to rudely simply because i looked 'different' yet i still classify myself australian. You don't go to school and be called a terrorist, a wog, a rapist. You don't get told you will never play first grade with the last name "….." By your junior coach. Mate, i can understand people hating on those scumbag rapists and terrorists because i hate them even more but we just ask to not be sterotyped into the same category as them.

I can see from your above post that your pretty angered at being sterotyped as a racist so imagine how upset i am at being stereotyped as a murder, cheat, weasel and rapist and having to deal with that whilst living in such a beautiful country.

I know you look at my posts and think im exaggerating it but the fact is you don't have to deal with it regularly so you"ll never understand. People like Robbie Farah and Josh Mansour wouldn understand because they've been living with it all their lives

The reason I drew the two comparisons between Robbie/Ayoub and Hamas was dont start what you cant finish. They both fire all these missiles off but when fired is returned back they go into hiding. Its you that is assuming Im doing this for some sort of Lebanese/Palestine thing.Always trying to play a race card when your in the wrong thankfully in this country has a short lifespan.

What a ridiculous post, Jerry.

Too much truth in one statement may be hard for some to digest.

Too many lies and generalisations in one statement is absolutely hard for anyone of positive IQ to digest. You're obviously not at that level. I know Robbie would be offended by the assertions you are making. He is infinitely more courageous and intelligent than you. But, who isn't?

Sorry, but what you wrote bordered on nonsensical and had a scintilla of truth, at best.

Once you have insinuated racism as you have you cant just crawl back under a rock hoping everything is fine.To call australians racist is very insulting in Australian culture considering that 8 of the 17 people who started origin for NSW were of other than anglo saxon background proves your "little" racist theory very wrong.I would say that is a very "democratic" selection process.

Nobody ever suggested Australians more broadly were racist, just that Farah may have been ill-treated in Rugby League circles as a result of his heritage. That is open to debate.

I don´t think the selection of players from other ethnicities necessarily disproves the allegation which was levelled by Tony. I am not saying that I agree with the allegation mind you. I just reject your assertion.

The team is currently selected by three blokes in their 60s. I´m really not sure how that equates to a democratic selection process.

Lets use robbies homeland of Lebanon as an example and id be surprised to see 8 foreigners allowed to live freely and live a happy business owning and meat pie eating existance.its a bit like this whole gaza war garbage. If hamas didnt constantly fire over 10,000 missiles to israel since 2005 (when israel left totally for good)we wouldnt have any dead palestinian children.(well there would still be 90% of them dead as 90% of the time its arab killing arab.FACT.)

This is the part I have the biggest problem with. A facile, fatuous, and reductionist interpretation of the conflict in the Middle East. Not to mention it is completely and entirely irrelevant to any of the posts which preceded yours. It´s hard not to conclude there is some prejudice going on given your childish characterisation of the conflict.

Well you have equated comments played out through the media with the firing of missiles at civilian targets. Given the two situations are stratospherically different, it is hard to believe you have chosen the analogy on the basis of common race.

Even if you have not it is in incredibly poor taste to trivialise the conflict in the Middle East through a comparison with media commentary. Not to mention it is incredibly unfair to besmirch Farah through a comparison with acts of terrorism. It defies belief to be perfectly honest.

You're exactly right Tim.

And if you're going to use something so distasteful, atleast get your facts right. Hamas didn't start that conflict, it was created after it all began.

have no idea why a conflict going on in the middle east needs to be raised in a sporting forum like this, dont think it has a place here to be honest.

win, lose, draw, good, bad or ugly, i support robbie as our captain and wouldn't want it any other way, he is the heart and soul of wests tigers. i'd follow this guy through the gates of hell. now and until the last day he pulls on a tigers jersey.

Whatever happens its better if The board is made the scapegoat.

Robbie would feel very disappointed with his manager and the media. They left him out to dry.

But at the end of the day he needs them. He can't afford to get offside with the media otherwise they will heap so much pressure on him it will affect his game and he can't afford to get offside with his manager otherwise that will cost him financially.

The board at least will forgive him as one of their own.

Blood is thicker than water.
