Robert Lui charged with assaulting girlfriend

Good comments about the ads, Flip- fully agree.

I can't agree with those suggesting that the Club can be blamed for this in any way. In fact, Humpty and Co would/should be shattered and disappointed and if the accusations are proven, rightly so.

Totally agree with your comments about the influence of the media Flippedy. I guess people are affected differently by this however otherwise, generally speaking, there would be a lot more alleged assaults.

It's sad the club didn't show some leadership or guidance to am
Employee who is essentially still a kid.

How do you know they didn't???

Don't blame the club, he's 21\. Are you saying at 21 you didn't know that it was wrong to get drunk and(allegedly) hit into to your missus? this has nothing to do with leadership or guidence, its about common sense for what is right and wrong

i laugh when i see players doing workshops on how to treat women. Like, seriously you need someone to conduct a class to grown men on how to treat women? :crazy

Spot on GNR. Anyone who needs a workshop on how to treat women should be kept separate from society. Really, how dumb have we become as a people to have to resort to teaching grown men that hitting women is wrong? Personally I believe Lui has to go regardless. He should have gone the first time, however his on going issues not only affect sponsorship dollars, the Wests Tigers brand, and potential player endorsements, but it also taints the club and supporters with his actions.
By the way GNR how did you like the Falcons at home the other day? Matty got one up on Vick finally in the dome. :roll

According to the SMH his team mates want him out of the team now - http://www.smh.com.au/sport/teammates-want-lui-out-the-door-20110924-1kqjw.html

Dunno what to believe though

Interesting story that and if Lui is actually guilty of this crime, then you can understand the players not wanting him in the team anymore, if they were even just half way decent blokes. Then again, it is a Weidler article, so it probably lacks a bit of credibility at this stage. Don't you just love how he puts himself in the story like he is the players' best friend and confidant

I have always hated that about weedler, he cracks on like he is best mates with the players, but you just know he was that nerd at school that no one talked to.

Whilst I don't like Weidler, you'd have to think that quite a few of the players, at the very least, would like Lui to leave given the current situation. If he's found guilty, you'd think it would be a forgone conclusion they'd all want him gone.

Whats this second Mad Monday incident between Beau and Lui that Wideload talks about?

Lui is a liability on the drink.

I believe Danny Weidler on this one.

Team mates will defend guys who mess up, who are drunks, who get in fights, who abuse refs etc etc etc.

But the reality is that guys won't defend players who hit women or hit children. If tru…......IF true......then Rob Lui has really gone way too far. It's sad all round, but hitting women just is a major "not acceptable".

I just can't see players coming out and talking to Weidler about something like that
The club would be furious if they found out who it was if it did happen
UNLESS they have done it themselves in an attempt to chase him off without having to look like the bad guy and sacking him
Either way very unlikely

I saw Robert Lui on the weekend at a knockout carnival where my son was playing, trying to make a QLD under 16 indigenous team. Robert was extremely polite and couldn't do any more for the kids who flocked him all weekend. My son had a good talk to him on how he was playing and also had a photo taken. This is a huge shame if true, I just can't believe it, he should have recieved help after the first incident. I don't know if this was offered but it should have been, especially for the sake of his wife and baby.

As Happy has written, if this article actually represents what players have said then it looks like an effort to set the scene for things to come.
