Robert Lui charged with assaulting girlfriend

Court documents tendered suggest that Lui knocked his girlfriend to the ground, pulled out her hair and kicked her in the head a couple of times. He then threw her out the front door.

Lui stated that he had consumed a number of cases of vodka cruises' over the previous couple of days.

I am not making a judgement one way or the other. Just pointing out what is now on the public record.

I really like lui as a footballer but if he did what is claimed by the police then he has to go. violence towards someone is never acceptable and even more so since she is his partner and mother of his child,i just hope the whole truth comes out in court

If they keep this guy at the club I'll never support this club again this after 40 years of supporting my beloved tigers it's now a moral issue … Pissed off they are standing by these vermin ..

Finished with this guy never to be seen in our colors again IMO.

I agree

Now that this is on record I feel comfortable saying I won't pay a cent towards the club while he is on the books, nor attend a game. Even if he is found not guilty the same "allegations" two years running show me he is trouble. Its not like he ever denied the previous assault, he got off on "mitigating circumstances".

Anyone (out of us fans) concerned with the football side of things given these events should also approach Wests Tigers for counselling. Football is a game, domestic abuse is not. There are some people who make excuses and bold claims about "circumstances" around these events. The context is irrelevant, absolutely and unequivocally. Fire him.

too right, i couldnt believe it when i read it….disgusting if u ask me.

Disgraceful. And now the baby hs been added to the AVO … makes me feel even sicker!

These allegations, whilst not tested yet in Court, would be based on the victim's account and any witnesses (if any). If proven to be correct, the behaviour is totally unacceptable.

What the court documents alledge is sickening.
I thought maybe he had a brain snap and just hit her once, not that I'm condoning that but I'm sure it happens alot more often then the other thing….

But what is alledged is just brutal thuggery and deserves serious jail time IMO.

imo it doesnt matter if he is found guilty or not.

We stuck by him through the last event and it was only dismissed because Ms Backo refused to testify.

We should be cutting him loose now so the clubs name is not tarnished further.

He can chase next years salary from us if he is found *innocent*.

It annoys me is again linked to NQLD considering there were very strong rumours that this was nearly a done deal 6 months ago. Who was the Tigers player that wanted to keep his signing secret because he was worried about being dropped?

sad…very sad...he should be punted out of the game completely not only by the WT but the NRL...offered counselling...and ONLY ever offered a contract when he can prove he has grown up....

If Lui is guilty of this crime, it would be very disappointing if he was still given the privilege to play in the NRL, be it with the Tigers or another team, but deep down, I believe we all know that this will most likely happen. Sadly, I've yet to see a footballer penalised, to any great degree, for this sort of crime (Bird, Watmough, Stewart for example). Carney may well be a repeat offender of all things stupid, but at least he only hurts himself in the process.

That isn't entirely accurate about Carney Flip. He got a mate sacked from the Raiders and he set a mate's arse on fire last year. For the large part though I agree, usually he only lets himself down.

i dont have a word to describe how i feel about it.

given this who cares about the football side of things, Id rather them raffle the 7 jersay each week than see someone who has done that play for the tigers

There's nothing wrong with threads such as this as long as they abide within forum rules. My comment which you have quoted merely reflects my own personal view of the matter, and that is essentially that the club knows best and it's not for me, or anyone else to decide how they should deal with the matter. People can choose to disagree if they wish, but the club has already stood Lui down from training with the main squad as well as non-attendance of formal events so it's not like they are sitting on their haunches.

Yes fair enough, but I just wonder what positives can ever come out of threads like this? In any case the eventual outcome will confirm what sort of culture we have at Concord

If this is true why couldn't he use this alledged aggression in defence when he was attempting some of the so called tackles he attempted to make
Oh thats right he can only use that type of alledged aggresion against women
Man up Rob
Real men don't do this drunk or sober

If this is what happened, it is truly unforgivable! I feel sick!

The 1.oopm news I think it was 2ue,said Lui denied kicking her in the temple,he said he head butted her, this after scaling the outside of the building and pounding on the glass sliding door to get in,all because he thought she was cheating on him.

Totally unexceptable, how anyone can want him here next year is beyond me,sack him, sack him now.

Then if he's coming out and admitting guilt now, the Tigers shouldn't even wait for the court hearing, they should sack him on the spot. Coward

Don't jump the gun just yet.

I am sure that the management will do the best thing regardless of the outcome.

If there isi guilt and that's how it finishes, as a club we should remain professional, offer counselling and do what we should do regardless of whether he stays or goes.

If he does end up getting punted, at least we can hold our head up high and say we did everything we could and did our best. We at least owe that to his partner and child.

The club hasn't rushed in and punted him Swordy so it looks like they are following your line of thinking. I agree with the importance of your last point, being the need to assist his partner and child.
