Roles on field

I often hear Storm players say when discussing Belamys coaching, everyone has their role and they know what they must do.

Gibbs at the Shark, and even with us….he had his role and knows what he has to do.

Guys here like Humble, Reddy, Ayshford, Lawrence, Ryan, Marshall, Fulton, Sirro even Farah....theyre all over the place at times, some more than others, Sheens habit of making multiple changes (moreso this season than any other) when he really doesnt have to has contributed to our inconsistency imo

Probably so Ink but you also have to take into account that our add lib style of play makes it hard for players to have structured roles on the field. How many times have the players confessed on the field that they didnt stick to the game plan that was set out for them??? In saying that though, if I were in Tim's shoes and players werent sticking to the game plan he wants, you have to ask why he hasn't disciplined them?? Is Benji the main culprit for this???

You only have to watch the confusion with which players who go back to BRET from the NRL team play the game on their initial return to see the lack of cohesion and planning around fringe players

Spot on! I think Farah's comments about knowing his role and being able to play his natural game after playing City/Country with Mitchell Pearce, but not at the WT, was very telling.

I also hear that Bellamy basically doesn't coach the side its the big 3.And i would say the same apply s for us with Benji and Robbie.

Definately not the case. Bellemy coaches very much so, a player I know reckons that you are coached to the point where you cant think for yourself, he hated it , but results speaks for themselves

I watched the BRET team against Newcastle & I would agree with this!

God help us if hes coaching

Spot on. Let's hope for Benji's sake, if he ever coached, he has his big 3.

You just have to look at the Broncos V Sharks game to see the difference between Sheens and other coaches.

Sheens will shuffle the decks as much as possible to accommodate injuries/rep footy. We've had 5 hookers, 4 halfbacks and 4 five-eights. When Carney is out on Origin duties, Flanagan slots Townsend straight in. A five-eight for a five-eight.

This has got to have a huge influence on role clarity.

Even J-Mo knows his role…relief for De Gois at dummy half and tackle tackle tackle, then tackle some more until Isaacs back

1\. moltz (back up: ryan)
2\. lote
3\. lawrence
4\. aysh (back up: reddy)
5\. ryan (back up: utai)

i just hope the players know where they stand, coz obviously we dont.
with reddy, utai and humble in the team as well, we sometimes play 10 backs in the 17, each game.

Bennett, Bellamy and Hasler and often cited here as exemplary coaches because Dragons, Mescaleros and Dogs played/play very disciplined and structured football.
However, none of them is on forum's short list as Sheens replacement. Go Figure :bash
