Roosters Sack Leilua

The Sydney Roosters have terminated the NRL contract of troubled outside back Joseph `BJ' Leilua.

The 21-year-old has been released immediately from the final two years of his contract.

Leilua was given a one-year good behaviour bond in October for sending a nude photo of an ex-girlfriend to her brother and friend.

The centre made his first grade debut back in 2010 and is regarded as an up and coming talent.

Advertisement Leilua was earlier this week selected in an emerging NSW Blues State of Origin squad and previously played for City Origin.

The Roosters issued a two paragraph release explaining Leilua's sacking on Tuesday and said they wouldn't make any further comment.

Hmm, not a bad player but he's obviously got some off field issues to deal with. It will be interesting to see which clubs, if any start circling.

So did carney.

Roosters is just a bad influence.

Tigers should snap him up. Cheap and would be a good buy

Were we interested in him at some point before he re-signed with the Roosters ?

We were interested in him before he re-signed with the Roosters, & i would have another go @ signing him before the Panthers or the Eels get him.

He is worth looking at

If I was to compare him ability wise to Ayshford or Simona he marks up pretty well

Only issue is you will have to play Rowdy right side as Leilua can't play right side If I remember correctly that was the issue in the City Country game also

I would rather sign the young eels player that KO'd Reni Maitua

Tiger Benji you are exactly right I think the tigers should make a play for him before he gets snapped up by other clubs. I'm sure mick potter could fit him in the squad either the centres or the wing. Also, the tigers are good at picking up bad boys and rejects from other clubs for example: Wade McKinnon (who spat in that referees face some years ago), Arana taumata (sacked from six other clubs because of off field stuff), Dane Chislom (didn't even play a single game for us)…
