Whomever was in charge of retention when Papenhuyzen left ought to be held accountable. One thing I am confident about is that he would still be at the club of Tim Sheen's had bey in charge. He could identify and nurture talent.

One thing I'm confident about is that if Sheens had been in charge and Paps had been retained - we'd still be a < 50% finals team.

I don't get this anti-McDonnell stuff as others have said. If the club thinks he's good at his job, then so be it. This can hardly be "jobs for the boys" because the Chair, Coach and Board are all different since McDonnell left, and Pascoe had been there only 1 year.

There's been an overhaul at Bulldogs and it's not just McDonnell who left, also Team manager (Andrew Farrar), head of football and pathways performance manager also all left.

I also want to make sure that the folks complaining about bringing back McDonnell ARE NOT the same ones complaining about why "Bulldogs are signing players when Tigers are not".

In other words, if you believe that Bulldogs have done a good job signing players despite their off-field turmoil, then you can't also complain about getting Warren McDonnell back, because he was Bulldog's recruitment manager.

Also having someone from Roosters or not is meaningless. Jason Taylor came to us from the Roosters. Question is whether this new bloke is actually any good or not. I have no idea, never heard of him - so benefit of doubt is given.

We'll know whether the Roosters fella is up to it in short order. Truth be told he has to be given benefit of the doubt as it sounds as it's his first major role and everyone has to start somewhere. Might be garbage, but he might also be a revelation. It's also about what we bring to him as much as the reverse as well.

@willow Not Exactly...….. My understanding of the Tedesco balls up at the Dogs had very little to do with McDonnell.

My understanding is and was Tedesco, Moses and Woods were offered to the Dogs as a package, Hasler said no to Moses. Deal off.

Meanwhile put over at Bondi Junction **Minichiello who was in charge of recruitment** for that week was promising Tedesco rivers of gold.

End of story.

That's a great strategy that we should adopt with Robbie and Benji. You'd think these guys whould do a great job when it comes to recruitment.

I cant help but feel a little suspicious about Adam Hartigan's replacement at the Roosters. Daniel Anderson, the former Parramatta coach who got de-registered by the NRL for Salary Cap rorting. Im guessing he went to the Roosters to perfect his craft??

From the Lurker ;
“There was some fun and games at the Roosters this week when Adam Hartigan resigned as football manager to take on a similar role at Wests Tigers.

I'm hearing Hartigan was virtually frog-marched out of Roosters HQ when he told club officials of his decision to quit the club.

Hartigan is a former high school coach in Sydney's west who has plenty of contacts at grass roots level.

He replaces Kelly Egan at the Tigers, who parted ways with the club recently.”

Plenty of contacts at grass roots level is the highlight. Getting in before the bigger clubs to sign the best young talent going is our goal. It sounds as though Hartigan is our man backed by the pathways initiatives that McDonnell brings with him. Is there a chance of the Keebra link being rekindled with access to SE QLD juniors like Mikaele?

@Wounded_magpie this story sound great for us. Must have hurt them, if it's true. Not so good for Hartigan though. Nothing is sacred, not even the way a person leaves their job. I'd be pissed if I was him with the Roosters allowing this to be published.

Heaps of contacts at grass level is a bit like saying a girl has a nice personality

It's a load of nonsense that's what it is. Whatever does "virtually frog-marched" even mean? Well for starters it means he definitely **was not** frogmarched. If he was escorted out of the office, well that's not so uncommon when you sign with direct competitors.

I mean what are Roosters supposed to do? I assume Hartigan signed with immediate effect, given that Kelly Egan had already left and the GM role was already open. So if Hartigan says "I'm joining Tigers and handing in my notice", well of course Roosters say "don't bother with the notice, we'll see you out now". Better that than have Hartigan stay back 2-4 weeks at Roosters and dig up dirt, steal materiel, sure up contacts, listen in to strategic planning etc.

They strip searched him to make sure he wasn’t carrying copies of the 2nd set of books or Uncle Nick’s golf scorecards

Yeah I thought the same thing. Virtually frog-marched means he was probably locked out of his computer, and watched while he cleared up his personal items and escorted out of the office. Hardly given the bums rush.

Obviously noses out of joint at Roosters HQ 😀👍maybe on a winner !

Yeah maybe. Personally I suspect he's going to be really surprised when he finds recruiting players isn't as easy as he's found it so far. "Ok we'll offer him $300,000 a year in the contract and I'll let the chairman fill him in on the sundries his mates will help out with... yeah probably best not put this in the minutes. Wait, what was that? JUST the money in the contract? How are we meant to finalise this Ponga deal working like that?"

Perhaps this talent spotter can bring the Roosters U20's fullback McKenzie Baker to the club if Dylan Smith fails to fire.

I think it's just saying he wasn't literally frog-marched - he was not physically assaulted by having his arms pinned behind his back and forced to walk out..."Virtually" is more digestible than "figuratively".
