Rothfield - "One of the worst games in 40 years"

Worst game in 40 years?

At best it was the worst in 20…maybe 30 but not 40.

He is a pin head. I wonder if he saw the shocker between the Dogs and Canberra yesterday.

At least the Weststigers tackled as did the Cowboys.

Rothfield is such a mug, I swear reading his articles makes me feel dumber, I feel like I need a shower afterwards.

Anyone can see that stand-alone Origin weekends are the best way to keep the standard of the comp even. The problem is that it hurts the ratings and comp momentum - NRL does not want to sub all 8 weekend matches for 1 Origin. Maybe they could turn it into even more of an event, like the All-Stars concept in the US, where the comp winds down for a minute and Origin rules.

But they've never done it like this before and they are afraid to take the step. Origin grew up as a side-show interest, built for Wednesdays like the old mid-week cups, and even though it has evolved to be the pinnacle of the game, it can't dislodge the shackles of its own origin.

Or perhaps, it's just not big enough yet to justify pausing the rest of the competition.

The newspaper heading should have read "Negativity loses match and fans." Nothing to do with State of Origin. The players and coach were all professionals getting paid good money.

Rothfield is a senile drunk. There is no chance he can remember what happened last month, let alone going back to 1975.

It wasnt exciting, but the memory always forgets the dud games.

There are loads of games that dont hit any great heights, the Brisbane v Cronulla game this year was probably worse, far more errors.

The 80's was full of games with no points and little ball movement.

The worse part is Brooks and to some degree Moses are copping it for playing to this boring one out game plan, the media are giving it to Brooks about not taking the game to the opposition.
But the kid is shackled, and can't show his wares, and he certainly wouldn't be happy with this style of play we are playing, and he is not the only one I am sure.

It was pretty crap, so was Friday night's game. If WT, Parra, Penrith and Canterbury don't start showing something more consistently appealing on the paddock soon, our AFL counterparts in the west will be taking from all of our supporter bases. GWS and the Swans are killing it in their comp at the moment and probably killing off Rugby League as well.

Seriously?
Good defense….LOL
There was no attack from either side to defend, no questions were asked, no pressure applied.
Our footy has really dumbed some of our supporters, zombified.

Had a hard time deciding which was more painful:
watching the game on sat night, or the 2 surgeries I had for kidney stones last year. :unamused:

It was a disappointing game of footy but it could be worse, we could have been thrashed.

Still doesn't change most peoples' opinion on Rothfield though, he's a spanner.

We must have some of the most precious supporters in the country.

Have some of the most correct too. Rothfield is a dropkick.

That may be true, but it doesn't mean he's wrong. There are some people no matter what they say, that people are just per-programed to shoot down and call bs cos they don't like the individual who says it.

Play the ball, not the man.

He's right, but it's hard not to stick the boot in when the clown always plays to populist opinion. 99% of this forum will say we played terribly, he's not exactly putting his nuts on the line. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't watch the game and trawled Twitter to gauge the sentiment after the game. The bloke is a pissant as a journalist.

Unfortunately he's right.
It was closely followed by the first 70 minutes that was dished up earlier this year against Parramatta.

Rothfield bah..didn't read …the END...

Then why comment? Trying to score more fake praise?

FTR what he wrote was 100% correct. It was not a great defensive game either…neither team threw anything at the other.

Please. I watched the same two teams play a nil all half time score at Leichhardt and that was much worse. In fact a lot of the games in the Lamb era were poor. I'd say it was boring but I've seen worse.

Good on ya Buzz - worst game in 40 years. That is a lie - I've been to many worse games than that.

You'd have thought Brooks would be better after thirty games would you.

I would have thought you could write better articles after all this time as well.
