Round 1 Team after seeing the trial

Not sure about that. If that was the case then I'm sure Jennings would have played on the wing as usual and a reserve centre (Fonua maybe) would have been given a chance to show Madge what he can do at centre.

Nofo needs to work on his D
Liddle will get his chances later on

Who is Momor…never mind..

So the solution to the diabolical RHS D is to drop the winger..k..hope it works..

I would also say the start of the season is a bad time to introduce him.
Brooks, Mbye and Liddle need to gel as a combination. It would be far better that this is done with a regular 5/8 i.e. Reynolds.

But yes give Gamble a chance.

Agreed. That would be the team if it was up to me.
But I just can't picture Benji playing NSW Cup

No neither benji or RF will see ISP. if they aren't playing FG it will be a hamstring strain or some minor injury. Only exception will be if liddle or Reynolds are killing it in FG they may have to play ISP to keep some match fitness.

This will be pretty close if not the 17 imo. Any updates on ETs injury?

Wests Tigers favourite Chris Lawrence says the only positive about being stranded in New Zealand an extra four days is that his baby daughter did not have to see his shocking facial injuries.

Lawrence was finally given the clearance to fly home to Sydney on Wednesday afternoon after a horrific training mishap late last week.

The Tigers initially confirmed Lawrence had broken his jaw when he collided with a teammate, but the veteran backrower told *The* *Herald* he had shattered bones in his face and would not know the full extent of the damage until he meets with a surgeon on Friday.

Friendly fire: Chris Lawrence after his training mishap.

While the chance to reach 250 games this year will no longer happen, Lawrence hopes the latest injury will have no bearing on his chances of negotiating a new deal.

Lawrence waited until he touched down to point out there was a chance the three-hour flight could have affected his sight because of the swelling around his eye socket.

"But I didn't want to jinx myself,'' Lawrence said. "I've seen better days, but I'm getting there. Like any injury, it's tough. The toughest part was being away from my daughter [Emmerson Rose].

"Although the way my face was I was best off not being around her. I wouldn't have wanted to scare her.

"My wife [Kathryn] was shocked when she first flew over and saw me. I was pretty unrecognisable. But she's used to this face. She's stuck with me now.

Hopefully I can get a bit of a return date after meeting with the surgeons.

"I still don't know exactly what I've done. There are several fractures in different areas in my face. It's a bit of my jaw, but it's more my teeth, the nose and eye socket.

"Hopefully I can get a bit of a return date after meeting with the surgeons. One surgeon said the facial injuries were more common in AFL.''

Lawrence could drink only smoothies for the first couple of days, including on Saturday when the Tigers lost their one and only trial against the Warriors.

In recent days he has been able to eat mashed potato while waiting for the swelling to subside.

Several images showed Lawrence's face swollen with shocking black and blue bruising around the eyes and cheeks. Tigers officials were happy for Lawrence to forward the photos, but not the more gruesome images straight after the incident happened.

The passionate clubman was keen to build on his left-edge combination with halfback Luke Brooks and only told the *Herald* last month how he was keen to start the year strongly.

"But that's footy, there are plenty of people doing it worse off than me, unfortunately you get injured,'' Lawrence said.

"The last couple of years I've had a fairly decent run with injuries, but you can't dwell on the things you can't control. I'll focus on my rehab and once I get an idea on what surgery I need, I can start focusing on that.''

Coach Michael Maguire told *The Herald* on Wednesday night: "It was a bad injury, but I've been impressed by how tough he was through that period.

"I can understand why he's been at the club so long, because he's an impressive man.''

Chris McQueen, who has had a big off-season and played for Queensland when being coached by Maguire at Souths, looms as a Lawrence replacement on the left edge, as do Luke Garner and Michael Chee Kam.
