Round 1 team

Moltzen
Tuqiri
Ayshford
Lawrence
Ryan
Marshall
Lui
Heighno
Fulton
Ellis
Gibbs
Farah
Galloway

Cayless
Payten
Moors
Browne

Team I would pick and the team I see sheens picking

Some people need to try to stop defining playing Moltz in the 7 jersey as a traditional halfback. Moltzen at halfback is a good combination as such regardless if Timmy doesn't direct the team as a traditional halfback. You need to take it as "a halves package" so to speak.
Regardless of what many may think, Marshall back in the 6 still has him directing a lot of playmaking as an incognito 7\. You'd be naive to think Sheens has dumped the Marshall halfback project. Just even as last year went by, a lot of people didn't even notice Lawrence was playing stints as 5/8th also. Sheens is disguising a lot of things to which i've noticed a lot of people still aren't seeing.
Although Mr. Sheens…..those scrumbase set plays you tried AGAIN last weekend.....who were you trying to fool when Farah packs down in the 2nd row and Lawrence at lock with a failed attempt to make a play down the short side??
Even Liam forgot where he was supposed to be standing for this play running in and out behind the ruck like a headless chook not knowing if he was supposed to pack down or not... I have lost count of how many times you've tried these when Farah packs down at lock also......it's blatently obvious!!

Lui touched the ball a lot against the Roosters, for better or worse he seemed more involved than Moltzen ever did in any of his 5 games at halfback.

Still cracks me up people on here are critical of Moltzen at half given his 5, yes 5, games at half. I think this kind of feedback cant be warranted until he gets a season under his belt in this position.

I have been overseas since the end of last season so I have not seen any trial form or been completely in the loop so I am unable to tap into the Halfback/Fullback debate, but based on recent developments re Lote and Lui's supposed corker game on the weekend this would be my team:

1\. Moltzen
2\. Tuqiri
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Ryan
6\. Marshall
7\. Lui
8\. Gibbs
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Ellis
12\. Heighno
13\. Fulton

14\. Moors
15\. Cayless
16\. Payten
17\. Brown (although I am relatively certain it will be FItzy)

So if we dont need a traditional half back then why are people concerned if a 5/8th in Lui is selected. I am a bit confused by all this double talk to be honest. Lui isnt a good enough organiser to play half. However, although Moltzen organising skills are also not good enough, we dont need him to be a traditional organising half back.

I probably prefer Moltz at halfback but, unlike others, I dont think he is a natural selection there. Nor do I think his 5 games there last year were as phenomenal as people like Bug suggest. He played well (although not in a halfback sense) but the difference in those games was one Benji Marshall.

I am a huge Moltzen fan but only one eyed freddy would suggest that Tim's natural game is an organiser. Tim has always been a running half - that is his natural game.

Disagree with your opinion on the scrumbase plays, imo I think Sheens can imploy plays like these in trials it gets the boys thinking experimenting with each other also helps form combinations. They might not come off all the time but I think with the scrum being such a boring part of the game atm good on sheens for persisting with some plays that utilize the scrum. Hope the boys can pull a few off this year who knows one of those plays could decide a close game.

Agree with your thoughts on Moltz except he needs time to devolop skills that will make him more of an orgainzer.

Hmmm….A Fafita seems to be on the outer for some reason...Don't think he'll get a start round 1....

Is that your Round 1 team Ron..... or the team you think Sheens will pick?

At least Lortay is here better than Round 3....

Out of favour is possibly a bit strong. I just think Sheens wants him to get some more experience under his belt before he gets thrown into the NRL side. I'm sure he'll get a run soon enough.
