After watching both trials ..I would run with

1\. James Tedesco
2\. David Nofoaluma
3\. Jamal Idris
4\. Kevin Naiqama
5\. Moses Suli

6\. Mitchell Moses
7\. Luke Brooks

8\. Aaron Woods
9\. Matt McIlwrick
10\. Tim Grant
11\. Sauaso Sue
12\. Chris Lawrence
13\. Elijah Taylor

14\. Jack Littlejohn
15\. Micheal Chee-Kam
16\. Josh Aloiai
17\. Ava Seumanufagai

I don't think McIlwrick can go 80 … Littlejohn and Chee-Kam pushed their claims tonight...

Suli also deserves a shot...

Good side. If McLLwrick is a 2nd tier player…can he play?
I'd have JJF at 14 rather than JLJ. And try to smash Souths through the forwards. ET to cover DH for a short spell.
Other than that, I'd pick the same side for Friday week.

It's starting to look like a bigger side that 2016\. With Sue moving to second row and Idris in the centres. Also the versatility of MCK and hopefully JJF gets more game time.

I know with Simona out our current options are reduced but we can't run with Kev in the centres anymore. He just can't read a game defensively. Chee Cam is worth a shot. He went ok when Manly used him in the centres. Teams will continue to target Kev and as Idris lacks mobility , that combination won't work.

Unlike many I thought Sue was poor last night for what ever reason ,Suli looked good and seems settled as the cowboys were stacked with there talent and did not look out of place this is the sign the kid is ready.Aloiai was strong and the regular guys that put in did so. Mcllwrick surprised and I think hooker is well covered this season,Idris is going to need at least half the season to get up to speed I reckon at least 8 games to even play a full 80 but a good signing just needs some time.
There are many that really are reggie quality in the top group ,I see the problems will be back row and the centre positions this is going to be a real problem Naigama just does not cut it and with Indris underdone it could be a long season also fullback could be an issue as Helata has no idea and does not deserve a spot after last nights performance has been around long enough to show better!.
As for the younger brigade they did not get much of a go and it is difficult for them to showcase much in limited time so as the season pans out we will see if any can make the grade .
I left last night thinking that the forward pack is still going to be owned by most teams and the centre positions are cause for concern so with that I think the team will struggle to make the 8 there are just to many average players on the books.

I was glad to see Sue start in the second row. If Ava starts it will add much needed muscle to the pack. I'm really excited by Aloiai's form in the pre-season. Could pack some real punch off the bench.

Sue playing on the edge immediately gives us a big stronger pack.which is Something people have been asking for. I'm glad to see him training there in the preseason.
I just hope he has the lateral movement in defence.
I think it was the Cowboys number 4 that stood Sue up to score a try.

Yep straight around Sue. Should say Rankin was at marker and he put no chase on the dummy half runner that scored.

I would love to see Sue on the edge permanently. I thought he was excellent there two years ago.

Sue can be close to an 80 min player on the edge and, as one our true primary defenders, he can play the enforcer role to protect Brooks.

Josh had a very good first year but there would be no harm in having him play off the bench.

Having Sue on the edge significantly strengthens our 2nd row stocks which, as we all know, is a position we are light in. I feel we are well placed for front rowers - Woods, Ava, Grant, JJ, Tatola, Paseka - that it makes sense to be playing Sue out wide.

I agree..would you switch Sue to Brooks side in defence and pair Lawrence with Moses…?

I think moving Sue to second row is great.. will make life tough for the outside backs and halves when he runs at them. Suli looks the goods and Im all for giving the kid a go, might as well throw him in their, give us some spark in attack coming out of our end. Grant needs to start the season well IMO, theres a few big boppers in reserves who are itching for first grade action and he's the first one on the pecking order if he doesnt start off 100%

Good side. I'd go with Suli over Rankin. I'd also be tempted to have JJ Felise on the bench for JLJ - MCK or Lawrence could cover in the backs if someone went down and ET could cover McIlwrick if he can't go 80.

Btw does anyone think Teddy has been practicing to be a goalkicker? Always thought he was a good ballstriker from his kick offs.

Not that I want Rankin in the team but I think if Ballin is unfit for round 1, JT will play Rankin from the bench as a hooker backup/utility - think Liddle will be in NSW cup for a bit

I wonder are all the calls for Suli for him…or more for who he'd replace?

Well we haven't seen his flaws yet whereas we are well aware of the flaws in the other options…if he gets a shot and has a bad game I'm sure this forum can be trusted to vilify the crap out of him though (not to mention JT for picking him).

I don't mind so much.

Both Brooks and Moses need better protection from their inside men. My view is Brooks has a better defensive technique than Moses but Moses is more willing to put his body on the line.

Lawrence and Moses may work better together given that Moses at least usually slows down an attacker which should give Lawrence the more time that he needs, given lateral speed is really Chris's only weak facet in defense.

When Brooks and Lawrence leak its usually because Brooks has gone for an arm grab giving Lawrence no time to come across to cover the break. Moses is also better at defending before the line.

But I expect that Lawrence will stay left side given he has played most of his career there.

We saw what inexperience can bring with Heleta last night… I'd hate for Suli to be thrown in too soon... Not easy for an outside back to be eased in.
Let him train with the squad... Throw him in at seasons end when were out of semis contention

Yeah true forgot Aloiai. If McIllwrick can play 80 I'd put him in instead of hooker replacement

If McIllwrick will need a rest I'd put Aloiai in for Chee Kam
