LIVE GAME Round 10 v Storm

Live Game Discussion
The simple truth is our first 19 is red hot after that they really aren't up to it. We can cover one or two injuries but we can't cover more then that.

Today showed our 1st grade quality players and and ones that aren't.

Hope tries but isn't it.
Mason just isn't a first grader.
Sione gun middle lost on an edge. Madden great with momentum struggles on the back foot.
Bunty again tried, laterally poor and slow around the ruck.
Herbert tries hard defensively week.
I defend luai always but I felt like we needed more from him today. Lots of motivation but I really wanted him to take over and be the primary ball caller. Maybe a over critical.

My take we need an left edge br fast will be a massive weakness until douza returns.
We badly need Skelton we need his carries. Luke tries his guts out and runs hard as but we need that follow after turuva. Not sure how that fits.ayne turuva back to right centre?

WIthout API our our line speed is non existent when it gets tough need someone to support twal in this.

It's rough until we get close to full strength

One other thing the last 3 weeks the refs swallowed their whistle then all of a sudden it's a 6 again dear again I understand why Benji is confused theres no rhythm or reason

Rant over

I will never understand this type of instant pessimism from some fans.

You really think Tigers have no chance to win in the next 4 weeks - Manly at Suncorp, then Dogs and Panthers at Commbank, Titans at Leichhardt?

It's obviously difficult because we've lost very key players, and in the current NRL I don't believe there are many teams than can cover that many key injuries. You take Jahrome, Harry Grant, Josh King, Fa'alogo and Loiero (equivalent to who we had out today) out of the Storm and consider what kind of side they are.

It's not the same as last year because last year was derailed by the Galvin stuff. We were still fielding near-strength sides. Of the 5 early wins last year, 2 were against the ultimate bottom 3 sides. As it stands right now, not an exact comparison, we've beaten 3 of the Top 8 sides (and we are one of the Top 8).

2026 is weird so far because most teams are having a bad trot. There are 10 teams with between 4 and 6 wins. More than that though, apart from Panthers and a recent Manly turn-around, teams are very unpredictable and the losing margins are high - the average loss this week was 23.5 points. Can we easily explain how Sharks beat us by 50 then get smashed by Souths? Or how Cowboys cruise past Dogs away but are done by Parramatta?

You need to get some players back on deck to properly judge if this team will play finals or not. And there's a Bye after next week, which brings the injured players 2 weeks closer for free.
how is it not the same as last year wasnt galvin gonna play out his contract???
and yes this is a weird year but if we wanna make the 8 we need to win games like this against struggeling clubs or we wont make the top 8

One thing that always is in our DNA we do not cope well with adversity . Most other teams that have these disruptions can always spring upsets , but whenever we face these there is always a guaranteed two points for the opposition
Not true, that is recency and cohort bias.

"Most other teams with distruptions can spring upsets" on a sample size of 2 matches. Broncos - THE PREMIERS - have similar injury issues to ours and are not upsetting anyone. In fact similar trajectory to us, they appear to be gradually falling away without key players, and even the return of specific players is not a fix.

Come on man…
This side can play footy when they want to.
We work on raising the capabaility of our depth, especially competing for the full 80, we are still in this comp. We still have some great talent to return.
Yes our last 2 efforts have been dogshit. Time for Marshal to prove he can coach whilst his best players are out.
I'm not sure Benji has proved his coaching ability with our best players available. I've been convinced that he has man management skills. However, even in games we've won, I'm yet to see any tactical nous. A lot of our points have come from ad lib play, individual brilliance, often from a Doueihi line break, or hard running from our wingers.

Madden is an organiser. Get the basics right, kick effectively, make your tackles. Guy next to him is on 6 times more money and doesn’t look vastly better. Defence killed us. Man up in defence and we win. Our attack isn’t good enough to win 40-36 games.
Maddens kicking was poor and his defence was below that. Showed why he isnt an nrl starter

We couldn't keep up with the Storms speed around the ruck, especially in the first twenty.

However, I thought we did well to gain some momentum back.

But we made some defensive errors throughout the game, not just around the ruck but two wide with Madden and Luai, who came up with a couple of terrible reads and LL was up against it.

We looked good moving the ball wide far from the try line but again struggled a little in the twenty, Madden went the wrong side a few times and his kicking game was sub par.

It was encouraging to see Latu's contribution to the game

That's a new one, predicting a record loss because...?

Because we are shit mate

We have no depth

Manly will destroy us

I hope I'm wrong

But Melbourne are average and weren't great today

And they still had a field day

If manly aim up and I'm sure they will

We will fold

We have folded 2 weeks in a row

You haven't noticed?

And it was against 2 average teams

Rabbits walked all over the all conquering sharks from last week

I know man..

but our spine isnt responsible for letting in that many points.

we are about to lose 6 on the trot again.

Its a carbon copy of last season.

Manly will put 50 on us next week, thats just the reality of the situation.

I cant be optimistic, because theres nothing to be optimistic about in the next 4-6 weeks.
Our spine is responsible for organising the whole team … I’d argue against that not having them in the team is the reason we conceded so many points

Api leads the line speed and is one of the best attacking 9’s in the comp

Bula organises the defensive line from the back and was one of the form fullbacks in the comp before his injury

Doueihi is consistently our best player and puts his heart on his sleeve

I don't want to bag Luai too much, but he's made his choice regarding his future. We should do the same. I would've been happy to see Latu at 7 beside Luai, despite Latu being a 6. Maybe time for " team first" and Luai can take the bench spot & Latu starts.

Because Galvin agitated for a release for several weeks then actually departed, replaced by HEATH MASON at 5/8th. Latu was injured and Madden was at the Broncos, so we had no halves backup and we didn't expect that we'd need it for Galvin.

We had to play Doueihi in the centres because of the lack of stock - Taylan May did not play until Rd 20. At one stage we were running out Douiehi-Naden-Staines at #3-5.

Of course I agree, we need to be able to win against other struggling clubs when we are struggling. That's the true test of 2026. I'm simply not prepared to write the side off because of 2 losses, with so many players out. Maybe those players don't come back and maybe we are broken even when they do come back, but it's only been 2 poor matches.

The other fallacy is that we need to continually win close matches or continually beat struggling sides. No, we need to be 51% in these situations. Maybe even less than 51% if we can spring upsets or string a run of form (like the 3-straight wins already this year).

Most years you only need to win 13 to make the Top 8. Quite often 12W will do it, on F/A.

Instant pessimism? We have had 96 points put on us in 2 weeks.

Based on what you have seen, what chance of beating Manly or Penrith do we have? There is every chance we concede 50+ in both games. That could be 200+ points in 4 weeks.

I'm being realistic.

Maybe...
But i dont think it equates to 96 points in 2 weeks.
