LIVE GAME Round 13 v Bulldogs

Live Game Discussion
The rule is a joke though. The NRL really needs to look at taking into account incidental contact when it comes to everything whether it is high tackles, contact on kickers and hip drops. Having the rule the way it is, is why we have players like Sam Walker and Mitchell Moses flailing and throwing themselves to ground everytime they get a finger placed on them. Luai is a man and just played on and nearly got penalised for it.
If Luai throws himself on the ground instead of chasing - like just about every other half does - Curran and every fan knows it's a no try before he gets to the line. I don't mind the rule because it's black and white - you make contact with the leg it's a penalty..

The leg made contact with him. It's physics Where else can the leg go and where was there any malice on the leg? Curran only had eyes on the ball. That's why she chased him...

And how did that help us for the illegal action? Did that stop makasini leaving the field? Was there a penalty? Was there a sin bin?

Nope
Exactly. Ref's not there when they should. The Csnterbury captain never gets sin binned nor the player next to him - that would be guilty by association. It's not the first time right.

Okay cool. No report. Didn't know there was a difference. Guess 1 is a fine the other isn't... at the whim of a ref ...... and if it was another ref it would be fair to say that maybe they concur it should be on report.... do you concurr?
MRC.can charge players for incidents that may be missed during games

Intent is completely irrelevant. If you make contact with the kickers leg it’s a penalty. It’s very black and white.

You don’t have to like the rule, but there’s no argument against it being the correct call.

What damn rules??????

You agree with every 6 again interpretation of the rules?

It's how it is in the moment....

A fair try.... therefore the rules don't make sense..... more like DEi.
I don’t know how many more ways I can explain a black and white rule.

Also how are you so fired up about this? You lose a sports bet or something?

Thats true..

just they were robbed more...

I mean... the point being... again...

the ref's should stay out of it....
Can we buy the Ref a Bulldogs jersey next time?

Seriously I would go up to the ref after the game and offer to pay them a season membership if they keep doing this garbage.

At least put the sponsors on their uniform!

Sounds like were getting into the Multiverse of NRL rule interpritation...

There must be a Multiverse where we win the grand final in 2011.

"Intent" is just a word they use to determine who they want to apply the rules to. How does one determine what a players intent was?

I keep coming back to that tackle from Crichton on Setu Tu in Round 1.

Whether the intent was there or not, Chrichton should of been sent to the bin or had 1-2 weeks on the sideline. He got away with a similar shot which ruled Taylan May out for the game (and I think 1 extra match).

Reece Walsh slipped in the tackle when Joseph Sualili took him out - there was no intent to take his head off, if Walsh doesn't slip, its one of the all time great SOO big hits. Sualili was sent off and received 4 weeks. Crichton hasn't even been sin-binned let alone received a suspension.

A lot of these issues could be easily fixed but are not.

The NRL isn't just the top tier of professional Rugby League, it's a TV production. It's in the NRL's best interest for there to be drama every week; if there wasn't there'd be a lot less to talk about. So the NRL will keep it the way it is, with the drama, because the net result is $$.

Re the Curran “try”

Did he actually ground the ball ?

I’ve only seen it in fast motion & it looks like Bula may have got his hand under the ball & then they both slid over the sideline .
When I first saw it, I was like "try"

Now looking from one camera angle: https://www.nrl.com/news/2026/05/30/wests-tigers-v-bulldogs--round-13-2026/ 2:30 - 2:35
Bula gets an "arm" underneath. The front of the ball is high, but the back seems tucked into Josh Curran's arm. I can't see if the bottom of the ball touches the ground or not.

IMHO benefit of the doubt.
Seriously that was an awesome try attempt from Josh Curran. Josh is a real Rocks n Diamonds player but to outrun Luai and beat Bula is something.
