LIVE GAME Round 13 v Bulldogs

Live Game Discussion
"Intent" is just a word they use to determine who they want to apply the rules to. How does one determine what a players intent was?

I keep coming back to that tackle from Crichton on Setu Tu in Round 1.

Whether the intent was there or not, Chrichton should of been sent to the bin or had 1-2 weeks on the sideline. He got away with a similar shot which ruled Taylan May out for the game (and I think 1 extra match).

Reece Walsh slipped in the tackle when Joseph Sualili took him out - there was no intent to take his head off, if Walsh doesn't slip, its one of the all time great SOO big hits. Sualili was sent off and received 4 weeks. Crichton hasn't even been sin-binned let alone received a suspension.

A lot of these issues could be easily fixed but are not.

The NRL isn't just the top tier of professional Rugby League, it's a TV production. It's in the NRL's best interest for there to be drama every week; if there wasn't there'd be a lot less to talk about. So the NRL will keep it the way it is, with the drama, because the net result is $$.
There’s only drama because the fans fuel it.
For mine I saw the rub going both ways, and the team with the worst defence on the night who received far less football managed to nail the tackles that mattered.
That’s all there was between both sides.

It’s the rule mate
Anyone that does not like it has to also not agree that broncos should be premiers, becuse Reese Walsh got a penalty after Fulltime because his leg was touched by hosking attempt at charge down of a field goal that was nowhere near going over and they got a penalty… so the rule us the rule ,, fir some reason it’s ok when it goes to the Broncos but the Tigers benefit from a rule for once and the rule is a joke that should not apply? What is the difference? By the way, I’m not saying the broncos didn’t thoroughly deserve to win the premiership, just that they would not have had that rule not been adjudicated the same way .

There was a period when momentum had swung the Bulldogs way and they had 14 straight tackles in our 20. Burton and Bronson Xerri didn’t get the ball once during that period because Galvin wanted to be the hero. He slowed down there attack and kept giving our defensive line time to reset. Maybe Cameron Ciraldo should focus on that.
He was our best loss ever.

Ciraldo is now the chief whinger is the NRL
He carries on every week
7-0 set restarts in his favour
The shoulder charge on Makasini - no penalty but was a HIA
The no try from the charge down was a no try because THATS THE RULE !
Dissapointed in Benji saying he thought it was a try
Stick up for us Benji not them !

Thats an interesting take; blame fans for having issues with clear and obvious errors ("interpretations") made by the people in power at the NRL (refs, mrc etc) on a regular basis. If we were talking about on field decisions in the heat of action by a referee, its a different story, but we are talking about the bunker who has video technology with multiple replays and a match review committee who has even longer to deliberate on what action to take.

How do you explain Crichton getting away with so much?

Just finished watching, great defensive effort from the team. Galvin's try should not have been given, which would have made it even better.

And Toa, so, when he puts in some effort he can go alright. I hope he gets some confidence and consistency out of this.

Going to be a hard ask next week, especially missing Twal and Sione.

If Luai throws himself on the ground instead of chasing - like just about every other half does - Curran and every fan knows it's a no try before he gets to the line. I don't mind the rule because it's black and white - you make contact with the leg it's a penalty..
Re Luai, 100% if he throws himself on the ground Curran saves some energy and gets pulled up after 10m. That’s why I don’t really like the rule because it rewards the acting. I have a different view than most, I like grey, I think the game is grey and we should give referees discretion to rule in line with that. Black and white probably leads to more consistency which is good but I think it gives us non-natural results, like last night.

They're kinda the senior ref's, along with Klein.

All annoying

The way I look at it, if I feel a ref is genuine I can give him the benefit. Guys like Gough i feel are trying to just ref and arent too influenced. However guys like Klein, Sutton, Atkins and Gee all favour the team expected to win. They cheat purely to ensure less scrutiny on themselves. Yes I believe they cheat.

Tough job, wouldn't want it.
They all seem like they've got that main character syndrome.

I agree with you.
Seems blatant a lot of the times.
