Wests Tigers recorded a strong 36-20 victory over Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Leichhardt Oval today in round 4 of the NSW Cup.

The home side was boosted by the return from the NRL side of full-back Sean Meaney and hard working forward Jarred Farlow.

Wests Tigers opened the scoring in the ninth minute when giant winger Taqele Naiyaravoro made a break down the left flank and fended off several defenders to offload for half-back Jack Madden to score. Full-back Sean Meaney failed to convert the try for a 4-0 lead.

The Bulldogs drew level in the 20th minute when the ball was spread left for full-back Drury Low to score. Centre Brett Lane failed to convert from close range for a 4-all scoreline.

Wests Tigers went to an 8-4 lead in the 31st minute when a crossfield kick by half-back Jack Madden saw the ball spilt by the Bulldogs for forward Jarred Farlow to score out wide. Meaney failed to convert the try.

Naiyaravoro scored his second try in the 35th minute when he pulled in a grubber kick by five-eighth Eddie Paea to score in the corner. Meaney failed to convert the try for a 12-4 scoreline.

The Bulldogs hit back in the 38th minute when second-rower Paul Carter scored in the left corner. Lane failed to convert the try to leave Wests Tigers with a 12-8 lead at half-time.

2nd Half
Carter scored his second try when he crashed over out wide in the 45th minute for a 12-all scoreline. Lane converted for a 14-12 lead.

Wests Tigers took a 16-14 lead in the 51st minute when winger Allan McGrath finished off a backline play to score in the right corner. Meaney failed to convert the try.

Naiyaravoro scored his third try and his 17th for the season when he strolled over in the left corner in the 55th minute. Meaney converted his first goal for the game to give Wests Tigers a 22-14 lead.

Madden scored his second try to give Wests Tigers a 26-14 lead. Meaney converted the try for a 28-14 lead.

Paea then got his first try of the match when he scored in the left corner. Meaney converted the try for a 32-14 lead after 61 minutes.

The Bulldogs got a late try when Lane went over in the 74th minute. Centre Tim Lafai converted for a 32-20 scoreline.

Naiyaravoro scored his fourth try in the final minute for a 36-20 scoreline. Meaney failed to convert the try.

Congrats to the Wests Tigers on a well deserved win. 18 tries for the season for Mr T, well done big fella. He must be giving Potter something to think about.

what happened to Brooks? I think he played NYC last week… so does that mean he's not ready for 1st grade and will develop his game in holden cup till next year?

Brooks, Santi and Lovett will be alternated throughout NYC and State Cup with a view to preparing them for FG next season.

Really great team effort today …..really impressed with Fine & Akauola & of course Taqele.
Meaney again was everywhere , and with most tries scored along the sideline could be excused a little for his 3 out of 9 conversion rate

Big T can't be to far away from getting a call up to first grade . He is what we need a big winger

Watched the game with interest yesterday ..Fine is a real prospect has great footwork ,Groat disappointing really, Akauola a definite as was the new winger McGrath showed plenty of promise .Well Mr T is huge and scores plenty of tries and unlike many here think he would struggle in the top grade would have to really apply himself,I doubt he'll make the grade would really like to be wrong about this .The best for last the Tigers new signing from the Bulldogs the reason why I took time out from my day to watch did not disappoint this signing is huge for the Tigers finally a young and dynamic front rower with Farah & Woods could be the best front row in the league .Mr Paasi apply yourself to your game thinking how good we are is different to how good we really are ,there's plenty of promise don,t waste it!

Akaoula, fine ad mr t. All played awesome. Paasi showed some aggression but needs to keep his cool and get some better hands.

Gee taupau played awesome.

Little bit disappointed with groat, needs to improve a lot to get into FG.

Mr T seems to be running at half pace…..everything he does seems so laid back.

I think to play at NRL level, he will have to pick up his intensity.

Just watched the replay of this game and I was very very impressed with Asipeli Fine… This kid could easily make the step up to NRL and while I'm not really a Blair basher, Fine would offer everything we were hoping from Adam Blair.

The other player who stood out for me was Joel Luani. Very solid at Dummy Half, gave good ball and made some meters direct. He only played a short period in the backrow, but was just as effective and should be our best option with Farah out due to his ability to play in the backrow.

I never saw anything that would see Groat coming up in the near future, but this is the only game I have seen of him this year. As for Mr T, my opinion hasnt changed. He is a long way off playing Wing at NRL Level. Devastating with the ball in hand, but is lacking in just about every other area of a Top Grade Winger. Reminds me of Big Manu, he will win a few games with Tries, but will probably lose more!

How good is Paul Carter... He has good mongrel and a great off-load!

and Eddie Paea is possibly the worst defender that Wests Tigers have ever had in the halves.
& that's saying something!

Is that Groat's first game back? I thought he came back a few weeks ago? If first game back then lack of match fitness explains a bit as he looked a fair way off the pace and way down on fitness. Not dynamic at all. But he had a go at least.

Nayavaro - huge - but needs to work a lot harder before he's close.

Taupau was the best forward on the field for most of his time and agreed on Fine. Luani played a good 2nd half.

Very strong and convincing win by the lads yesterday. I would say watching it that Wests were told to take them on in the forwards as the back line saw very little ball. Kudos to the forwards for despite the 8 and 12 getting rave reviews on foxtel the West Tigers forwards definitely got on top.

The left hand side for Wests Hitchcox and Nayavaro had big games from little action. Hitchcox did 2 fantastic passes which led to the first try to Madden and in the second half to Nayavaro. And Nayavaro scored 4 tries they dominated that side of the park. No tries down that side against them either. All Bulldogs points were scored down the otherside.

Paea was ok in attack but is a definant target in defense for the opposition.

Next weeks games against the Vulcans should be a beauty… Do Warriors have a by next week,?

Teqele played well with his 4 tries and final pass to set up another. Unconvinced he would make FG though just yet; just doesn't seem to really run with purpose and using his huge frame.

Fine, Feaney, Luani and especially Akauola were standouts. Paasi provided some spark not sure he would make the step up either.

For the Dogs Carter and particularly Taupou were great! Marty's a great pick up for us. Looking forward to the possibility of our propping rotation looking something like Woods, Galloway, with Taupou joining Gavet off the bench. Formidable potential right there!
