LIVE GAME Round 14 vs. Raiders

Live Game Discussion
From memory I think we only had seconds left? Might not have had the opportunity after one more tackle.

I’d have to watch it again but I thought we ran around like headless chooks for about 20+ seconds on that last play. Could have had 2 tackles!

I watched a doco. on Netflix about an NBA ref. who was gambling on games, got caught and came clean about everything.
He said all refs referee teams differently, and referee certain players differently. He also admitted refs. take their grudges against clubs and coaches out on the players.
They do it subtly. It's not always the calls they make. In NRL it can just be the 6 agains, the speed of the ruck, how they police the 10 etc.
It happened in the NBA, I'm sure it happens in the NRL.
I read an article a few years back on European (Sweden maybe) soccer refs and their bias to the so-called stronger and richer clubs. It’s a human subconscious bias that happens in most of us. It’s real and it’s happening in the nrl, and no I am not folding up a tin-foil hat.

This isn’t an “anti Tigers bias”, it’s referee/bunker incompetence. Annesley admitted Canberra got ripped off 3 legitimate tries against the Bulldogs and Manly. Swings and roundabouts.

Sometimes we get a call, sometimes we don’t, but every club is getting screwed over. That Broncos v Storm game a few weeks ago was a prime example. 4-5 horrible incorrect calls conceded by Annesley which resulted in points.

If you score enough points to overcome their incompetence, you win. It’s the really close games where the bad calls hurt.

The stats said we should have scored plenty more than we did. Our 15 errors (poor execution) cost us. We should have won that game by 30.
Well said mate.
👍🏼

The only thing which stopped him from having a perfect game was the abysmal management of the last play of the game. Should have been one more hit up to the right post to setup for a field goal.
Watch the last play again if u can , I think api could have won the game if he had straightened up and taken Bateman to the line he would have scored the raiders only had two players to cover about 30 meters

So the bunker and referees confirm that they messed up, yet we have some "fans" on here who go about calling others sheep when we mention the clear refereeing bias against us...

Surely Annesley realises how many times he's had to come out and apologise to the Tigers for refereeing mistakes over his tenure and at what point does he begin to address the clear issues his referees have in officiating Tigers games?
The only bias Al is from yiu

It's not anti Tigers bias from the refs... It's them & bunker stuffing up calls for many teams week in week out

Might not be anti Tigers bias but there is definitely a big team bias... You don't see these calls against Penrith, Roosters, Souths, Melbourne...

You see it often against us, the Dogs, the Warriors, Canberra, etc etc.

We've had four formal apologies from Annesley in the reviews since Round 20 last year. Can you name any instance where Souths, Roosters, Melbourne, have had to receive an apology from Annesley in the last 3 seasons?

And lost by only a point after all of that crap. Don’t tell me that they’re blissfully unaware that it’s costing us cash money and the game in general? No, definitely due to big team ‘bias’ and it’s producing undue and extreme conflations to rigging/match fixing.

That’s not what most of us (I’d like to think) are saying. A clear majority here in this thread alone are in agreement about the fact it has direct anti-Tigers side effects, like us losing games.

Whether or not some referees have it going against the Tigers in the pre-game narrative is entirely human and would of course be bias.

You’ve gotta be borderline simple to disagree, whereas not totally understanding could be acceptable.

Another game we were cleary robbed
Over this BS where their is zero consequences for such awful mistakes being made.

The video ref job is simple review and clear the play how they miss these things especially the obvious stuff is ridiculous.
A horrendous mistake, it may have been. They literally changed the entire rule book to take away a win last year after full-time.

It was a technically not previously present in the game that they were forced to commit to as part of a post-game NRL effort - through refs ass./media - to create the illusion of two possible outcomes (in the Cowboys game) when in the moment it’s clear as day there isn’t.

The Wests Tigers were stripped a win AFTER full-time by a bit of creative direction through the bunker and again, involving one Ashley Klein and they were hammered pillar to post. Kasey Badger’s husband for example recently moved on from his post at our club…

I just went back at Gerard Suttons refereeing history and we are 4/22 in games he has refereed us in since the start of 2017. We have been bad but lets be fkn real.. that is a 18% win rate. Many of those years we were 9th and just outside of the top 8 with a 40-50% record for the season.

I would love it if someone could crunch the number on apologies given to teams for the refs in the last 5 years. I would like to see if there is a trend thats for sure.

Yeah it's beyond the pale. People who have the ability to make decisions are watching games live with access to replay videos....mistakes shouldn't be happening.

Our team’s inability to defuse a simple kickoff doesn’t help.
How many times have we lost a game at the end coz we can’t do the basics like defuse a kickoff or a short drop out after getting our nose in front.
You can’t blame Brooks, he had already won the game for us, all we had to do was work as a team and not blow it.
Touché

I noticed the Brooks push in the back watching it live, I just don’t know how the video ref missed it.

He should lose his job over it, but it won’t happen coz they have admitted it was a wrong call and apologised.
You should feel better now?

I’m thinking with Kleins decision against us (again) indicates a perceived bias against awarding us close calls.
Same with Sutton who obviously has an issue with us as well (4/22 referred to earlier). Plus his refusal to take any action until it was so obvious it had to happen( but did take 68 m).
Imo it is in our best interests for us to demand NRL not to have him , or Gerard Sutton, appointed to any future Tiger games.
PETTY, probably, likelihood, NIL , but I will watch very closely on any future WT games involving either official to see if this “subtle bias” continues.

It was not Klein it was Gee who is another ref who always seems to give us a hard time. The refereeing standard has never been lower than it seems to have been in the during the last 5 years. It seems to me that referees are looking to achieve the result that they want instead of refereeing to the rules,i not sure if it is conscious or subconscious bias but it definately exists.
I did not like Harrigan Stone or Hartley when they were the number 1 refs but they were far better than thes current ones.Cechin was the last decent ref
