LIVE GAME Round 16 v Dolphins

Live Game Discussion
Fact is fans aren't stupid they can smell a losing day out at the footy, they had no problem selling out Cambo before the injuries struck and we were flogging teams that's the reality of this sports ground.
Just because we could lose fans should still turn up, i go watch us get flogged by the broncos every year, if the fans want the team and players to embrace it then they have to turn up when were going good or crap, weve been bad for years and the support is still there at leichhardt, why can't it be the same at ctown. And the narative we packed it out when we were going good this season is a myth, we have only sold out 1 game there this year the broncos game, and Newcastle fans travel so a decent % of the 15k for that game could have been away fans

There was enough in it to say came out of the line slightly reckless - penalty all year. Suddenly the injury not even considered. It's enough to assume the refs to an extend were on the Phins. This is how the NRL is now.
The NRL random factor that undermines this competition.

How many do they claim are there?
Ive never seen a figure quoted iirc
Years ago pascoe had his stupid claim of 400000 wests tigers fans in australia or something, but the club has never quoted an actual figure, they do always push out narratives theres heaps of fans there and they need to invest and engage it etc to bring all these fans in, like building the office out there, and playing more games there. So they must think theres alot

And what about those that went to LO last week, that didnt turn up yesterday?

Theres heaps of them...maybe they thought we'd lose. I did, I tipped Dolphins in the tipping comp, about 70% tipped dolphins in the forum tipping comp

I'm a bit sick of people throwing stones at Campbelltown.

This is your home ground, this is the population of South West Sydney you represent. Forklift drivers, truck drivers, tilers, plumbers, nurses, support workers, new migrants, old migrants... All of them coming with their own stories and struggles.

Just because it doesn't have Leichsrdts history doesn't mean you discount the area completely.

I never even hear players say they're excited to play there. This group of people is a big reason why you're getting paid what you're getting paid.

All the people on here saying oh it's a crap hole because we never win there... We don't win anywhere, just because we win the least here, we give up the area? We don't win here because the players arent passionate about this area became of the perceived low socio economic status. They like Balmain and Ashfield and Concord because of the $5m houses that the people come from.

Maybe we would win here if the players and the Club spent more money in the pathways here, went to schools, listened to each of the parents stories, listened to the history of how this area became what it is.

That is what and who you're playing for.

We are a developing club, not a developed one and this is where most of the development is going to come from.

The moment we move out of here, you watch the Dogs will start spending millions in Liverpool, already all up to Moorebank is considered Dogs territory because they visit schools and give out stuff there regularly.

Probably Cambo is more young family orientated, why would you want to take young kids to a game that smells of a loss and put a with the disappointed tears, more manageable at home.

As for LO it's a different beast, not many families on the hill, it's packed with dudes and mates it's more of a cult thing.

You might want to have every game sold out but you can't make them turn up, their choice.

The Dogs and Parra owned it well before the Magpies got there. Do a bit of research on the history and you'll start to understand why it doesn't work for NRL, but works well for juniors.

Even the old Newtown Jets tried to move out there. It's not as simple as plonking an NRL team in that area.

I don’t think the players respect the place at all. There was a video earlier in the year where there was a mini presentation for KPP for his 50th NRL game. He said he couldn’t think of a better place to play his 50th, and his teammates all laughed. I heard someone say it was a reference to the fact we were playing the Knights, but that’s not how I heard it. But if you need more evidence, it is our record there. The players don’t lift.

In what respect does it not work?

As young families continue to establish themselves in the growth areas of the Southwest, the demand for infrastructure including sporting facilities and clubs will increase. The NSWRL and also imo the NRL have a role to assist the WTs with developing facilities/programmes to facilitate the expansion of RL.
